The Search For A Hero

"The saddest thing next to defeat is victory," deplored Duke of Wellington after the Battle of Waterloo. In our search for the time lost, we may find countless number of footprints of many a world-famed hero left behind on the old continent, such as Napoleon, Erwin Rommel, Julius Caesar, and Alexander the Great. Then, who could be called a real cowboy hero just like a Shane in the United States, who had overcome the damned evil ones single-handedly once and for all? Is he Gen. Douglas MacArthur, who supposedly compared himself with Alexander in his whole lifetime, or Mr. Ronald Reagan, who was a final victor in the cold war?
