Seasoned With Salt

At the age of sixteen, naive Robert Birkett left his parents' farm in the Cumberland hills of northern England to follow the river to the sea with his father's bitter words still ringing in his ears. Before long, his naivety would almost cost him his life. Having nothing to lose, he joins the Stemsi, hoping that time would heal the rift with his father. Before his voyage would end, he would see the brutality of the sea at its worst, the violence of man against man, and the horrors of a war he should never have got involved with. He would see things that few men alive would see or should have to see. Robert would become a man in every sense of the word.
