I think most people have covered the stellar performance of this PSU in their reviews. I'd like to add a couple of points :
1.Before assembling my new PC I took a multi meter to the output of the Seasonic S12II 520. The amperage of 12v/5v/3.3v was within miliamps of what was claimed. And that is amazing. My experience with another popular competitor was disappointing.
2. There is hardly any noise from this PSU again comparing with the popular competitor this was superior in every respect.
3. The price maybe a bit steep for a non modular PSU but the quality seems to be very good.
4. Supplied power cable was a european one ( in europe the ground pin is in the socket not the plug) . I had to get my own power cord . I really wanted to deduct a star for that but the unit is just to true.
The only thing left to examine is how it would fare in the next few years. That only time will tell. But it looks like I might be switch to Seasonic for my future rigs.
Got this during the first week of June 2012 and going great since then.
Ample number of cables and a spare converter cable.
All cables are sturdy and are covered with glass fibre gauze sleeve to protect from damage from any fans/ hot spots.
A couple of cables needed for motherboard/ GPU connections may clutter with the GPU/ cabinet/ cPU fans. One can easily take care by straping.
The ATX cable, HDD, ODD cables can be managed very well.
I have connected 12V 24 pin (ATX), 8 pin, 4 pin to the motherboard, one 6 pin to the PCIe/ GPU, 3 SATA power connectors for 1 SSD, 1 HDD and 1 DVD drive. Still there are many spare connections. Use the OEM's strap for managing the unused spare cables. In all I have 5 fans running inside the cabinet and one in the PSU. Ventilation has to be maintained.
This PSU can give 40A @ 12V max.
Cooling fan is pretty much silent with silent fan control (SFC).
I have mounted it at the bottom of my Cooler Master CM 690 II Advanced Mid Tower Cabinet. The upward draft of the cooling fan accumulates dust on the mesh filters. Simple brushing is good enough once in a while.
The voltage stability is less than +/-5% (Checked with BIOS), where as +/- 10% is the norm and power efficiency rated is 87%, which is best in the class, compared with Corsair CMPSU-600CXV2UK and Cooler Master GX 550.
I have underclocked the RAM voltage by -0.05V to keep it closest to +1.50V, else RAM starts giving errors in Memtest86+. Current RAM's are not very forgiving.
There was a short circuit on my motherboard and yet the pSU, which was doubted as the souce, is working fine.
Comes with 5 year Warranty.
There was a differrent picture of modular x-series, Which did influence me while placing the order, but I had cross verified with other sources. The picture was changed immediately.
My rig is
CPU: AMD FX-4100, 3.6 GHz
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper TX3EVO
Motherboard: Biostar TA990FXE
RAM: G.Skill RipjawsX DDR3 16GB RAM (F3-12800CL9Q-16GBXL)Quad Channel,
Graphic Card: MSI AMD/ATI R6850 Cyclone 1GDS Power Edition/OC 1GDDR5

Have assembled my system a fortnight back and the PSU seems to be doing its job very well:
1. AMD A8-3870K
2. ASUS F1A75M-PRO Mobo
3. G.Skill RipjawsX DDR3 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) PC RAM
4. WD Caviar Green 2 TB HDD
5. Asus DRW-24B5ST DVD Writer
6. Cooler Master CM 690 II Advanced Cabinet
Pros: This PSU exudes quality!
1. Build quality is superb (quite heavy too!);
2. Great specs (40A on +12V power rail - awesome!);
3. Abundant connectivity;
4. Sleeved cables;
5. Very silent and cool;
6. Has many power options to accommodate old and new Intel and AMD systems.
Cons: (resulting in the deduction of a star)
1. Power cables fell a bit short for my cabinet and mobo combination (could not route them from behind the mobo);
2. Had to buy an Indian power cable;
3. Warranty confusion;
4. A bit overpriced.
Nonetheless, does its job really well. Has great online reviews. Hope it keeps delivering.
And off course Flipkart packaging and delivery was great!
it is priced high why because no other psu gives 40 amps on +12 volt rails inspite of having a 520 watt psu i chose seasonic over corsair because corsair dont make there own psu they are made actually by seasonic and corsair place there name on it a 600 watt cx model wont give40 amps on single rail so its worth every rupee
pros
1-excellent power delivery on 12+ rail
2-it can run high end single amd gpu
3 length of wires are good enough for cable management
4-psu fan is silent and auto adjusts its speed according to psu temperature
5-worth the money u pay
cons
1- cables are stiff to bent they are like snake skin when u look closely to them
2- some people find cable short when using full tower case
allover a excellent psu for single graphics card user i recommend this
Seasonic has a good reputation and makes high quality PSUs
I am using this with a phenom ii x4 970 processor and gtx 550ti and it runs smoothly
Pros
40Amps on 12v rail
Silent
Made with highest quality parts
Cons
Cables are Stiff and hard to bend
P.S - If you are confused btw corsair cx500 and this then I would suggest you buy this PSU because corsair's CX and GX series PSUs are pretty generic and have a high chance to be dead on arrival(DOA) also this has 40amps compared to 34 of the corsair's.
A PSU is a very important part of a computer so you should always go for a good branded one like this one.
Very quiet. Feels and looks very well built. The 80Plus really does make a difference as well.
