This book is divided into six chapters. The First chapter attempts to find out the origin of secularism. It attempts to define the meaning of the term secular, secularisation, secularism and secular state. The Second chapter deals with the concept of secularism in India. It attempts to identify historical background and concept in the Constitution of India. The Third chapter deals with the practie of secularism in India on the part of government and political parties. The Fourth chapter is concerned with the Judiciary and Secularism.
About Author :
Dr. Shriram Yerankar has been a teacher in Political Science for the last thirteen years. He holds M.A., M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees in Political Science. His aeas of interest are Indian Government and Politics, Democratic Decentralization, and Human Rights. He worked as a Co-ordinator of National Youth Parliament Competition sponsored by Parliamentary Affairs Ministry, Government of India, New Delhi.
