Brilliant!

The books are good fun and take the reader into a new way of looking at Shiva and his world. The metaphors, symbolism, motifs used are really smart (admire Amish for this) and can be compared to any polar aspects like life vs death, our ideas of good vs bad, two ideologically different political par… (View complete review)

Awesome characters and great storyline

the interesting fact is that although the names of Hindu lords and religious mythology characters have been used but the author talks in detail about civilisations, govrnance, administration and how to lead/mislead and keep people at bay in a society

brilliant

This is one of the best from any Indian author. The way in which Amish has described the events in the books is just mesmerising. One can visualise them happening while reading the book. Eagerly waiting for the final book to release

Take a Bow !!

A Modern classic! Only a classic can make you feel humble as you read it. This book does make you realize the possibilities of human experience.

Frankly speaking, there were instances where i felt it is going boring, but then again the novel leaped to a new high.

This book will tr…

One of the best

The shiva trilogy is one of the best books I have read. As the reviews of the book says "A definite page turner". When u start reading it u wont even knew when u reached the next page. The story is so paced that its not too fast nor too slow, just right that u ll keep on reading and end up cursing everyone who interrupts u.
The trilogy consist of 3 books
1. The immortals of Meluha
2. The Secret of the Nagas
3. The oath of the Vayuputhras
The story is about Shiva, who was once a normal fierce warrior of his clan, whom legend turned into a god in the hindu mythology.
Eagerly waiting for the thir

Great Service, Refreshing Read

First things first, Flipkart is awesome... It was my first order from FK and with the safety net of COD. The books came in 2 days, all nicely packed. Now I buy more regularly with prepayment options.
About the books, both of them are a refreshing read... kinda Indian LOTR. I liked the first book more than the second. Found the story line a little too simplistic for my taste, would have preferred a little more complexities and layers to the characters. However, Amish Tripathi has done a commendable job of making mythology racy and totally believable. All in all, a good read. Waiting tho catch t

Where angels fear to tread

The author deserves to be congratulated for a brilliant exposition of one of the basic truths of spirituality while charting an independent route away from the mythical path.

God is within. The hero Shiva is portrayed as a mortal human being but with outstanding leadership qualities, an incisive and analytic mind that does not go by blind faith or superstition but has a penchant for getting at the truth without prejudice or bias. Compassion for friends and victims of falsehood is another quality which stands out.

In essence, is God a resident in Heaven equipped with immortality and posses

awesome flow

Dear all, Earlier When I chose these two books to read I was a little skeptical of Lord Shiva being personified. However to decipher a truth one has to go through it, this thinking compelled me read these books though reluctantly. As I proceeded my journey I was simply awestruck with the flow of thoughts and amazing use of philosophy, Ancient history, history, geography, science, military science, mythology etc. I am sure author or some of his family member is/was connected to our proud Armed Forces. actually after reading about 50 pages i started listening to it and such is the narrative power

Bhoom Shiva!

In college my grass head bong (bengali for those who don't know) friends used to reverentially call on the name of Shiva before sucking in on weed. I found it kind of funny and thought it was some crutch to legitimacy for smoking pot.

The Immortals of Meluha gives the back story to the reverence. The crutch may have been a figment of my imagination....or not...

Amish Tripathi's trip into the myths of history, reimagining Shiva, is immensely enjoyable and a fast paced, gripping read. Except for the occasional technical glitch of faltering on 'show don't tell' which is something only a wr

Unfortunate

Misguided by all the great reviews I picked up 'The Immortals Of Meluha' but by the time I read half of the book I had cursed myself more than 50 times. Disgraceful write-up, poor English, the book made me critical of the new genre of Indian authors.
Don't buy this book, check it out with some friend or in a shop and then only invest your money on it.

Repetitve and Childish

The plot is simple, a man from nowhere is destined to save a group of well organized people who have trouble from a group of deformed people. The first book deals with how the suryavanshi people defeat the evil Chandravanshi people, who happen to be "not evil" in the end. After reading the whole book and getting to know that what was true in the first chapter is false in the end is so pathetic. The only good thing about the book is we get to know a lot from the hindu mythology.

A novel should have its ups and downs throughout, this is where this book fails. It is not engaging and you have to

the master of all page turners

once you've got a hold of the book....the book gets a hold on you!!!
Shiva Trilogy sets a trend in Mythology revisit and binds its reader with something more than a story...the book stops being in chapters and begins playing in scenes inside your mind thats the brilliance of Amish!!!
the characters come into existence and play their destined roles.
Immortals of meluha begins the journey which you will love and the perfect sequel the secret of nagas maintains the unconventional beauty of the trend...!
I cant wait to read the conclusion to this trilogy ..."oath of vayuputras"
Hail Amish keep up

" THE CREATOR AND THE DESTROYER-LORD SHIVA "

It's really a one of the best book to read and offcourse an intresting one as well.It definitely makes you to read it again and again, its because of its beauty and how a common person/warrior become a god.
Totally it has three parts/3 books
A.THE IMMORTALS OF MELUHA.
B.THE SECRET OF THE NAGAS and
C.THE OATH OF VAYUPUTRAS.
Its a story of a common man later which shows that how a that common man become a mythological hero or a god.

Good resurfaced fiction

A good story, which is best read; out of the actual puranic context.Because a lot of changes with regards to timeline, story, characters...etc are done in this manifesto. People who read this book please enjoy the story alone and please dont conceive this as the ultimate explanation of 3500 years old puraNa. There is a lot of difference between the original and this one. So just read it as another story and I promise u'll never stop once started reading.

Author has best tried to mix up records from vEdas(like starting from rudra, indra refereneces for shiva and vishnu), vEdaantas and puraaNaa
