Shrimanyogi (Marathi) 18th Edition

I have read this book many times.
Every time its interesting and one will feel passionate about our history and will feel proud to know things about the most worshiped person in Maharashtra Hindunrusinha Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

Though its really a big novel with more than 1000 pages, a marathi reader will finish it just in a week or two. Book is extra-ordinarily great and famous too. All credit goes to author, famous marathi writer, Ranjeet Desai.
Preface of this book is little lengthy; but once you start reading it, it drags you so fast with the topic and gives you complete idea of great Maratha King Shivaji and his deeds. If you miss the preface/prologue, you miss one of the best part of this book.
Author has honestly tried to write this book considering realities. Instead of considering Shivaji like a God, he treats him like a human. This gives the book a realistic touch. Book creates actual environment in reader's mind as it might have been in Shivaji's time.
Apart from writing skills, author's researches and studies in history must be appreciated. There are literally hundreds of book about King Shivaji; but this one surely puts you to different level of understanding of Shivaji's period, his life, his administration, his tactics. etc. You explore complete character of Shivaji through this book.
It is "Must Read" book for marathi readers. From 1968,since it ws published, "Shhrimanyogi" has been marathi best seller, till date. I haven't seen a single person who read this book and didn't like it. This book also available in english translated version on flipkart here:

आजवर शिवाजी महाराजांबद्दल खूप वाचायला-ऐकायला मिळाल, पण हे पुस्तक वाचताना खूप गोष्टी महाराजांच्या नजरेतून बघायला मिळाल्या.
महाराजांबद्दल खूप सारी पुस्तके प्रकाशित झाली आहेत पण एकतर ती पूर्वग्रहदुषित आहेत किंवा भक्तिभावाने लिहिली आहेत.
पण ह्या पुस्तकात रणजीत देसाईनी महाराजांकडे एक राजा म्हणून आणि एक माणूस म्हणून पहिले आहे.
त्यांच्या पराक्रमाबद्दल लिहिताना देसाईनी महाराजांना देवत्व दिलेले नाही किंवा शत्रूला कमी लेखलेले नाही तर सर्व गोष्टी सारासार विचार करून मांडल्या आहेत.
आणि त्यामुळेच हे पुस्तक खूप विशेष आहे आणि प्रत्येकाने वाचले पाहिजे.
पुस्तकाला जरी अकराशे पाने असली तरी तुम्हाला कंटाळा येणार नाही.
