Perhaps it is the sudden loss of a loved one; or the onslaught of natural disaster; and, the despair of a missing person. Maybe it is the devastation of a terrible health report, financial ruin, or worse. Whatever it is, the effects are felt far beyond the catastrophic occurrence.
Suddenly, your loved one suffers a heart attack, aneurism, or is killed in a car crash. Suddenly, your child walks out of the door, never to be seen again. Suddenly, a trusted sitter or worse, a relative, molests your innocent child.
Suddenly, as you go along your normal day you are assaulted, robbed, beaten or violated. Or, suddenly, you find yourself in a life changing health crisis. You are diagnosed with terminal lung cancer, though you never smoked. You in fact are a "health nut," but suddenly, your annual check up reveals cancer, full-blown AIDS, or worse.
Suddenly, your spouse of thirty years reveals an affair or a secret lifestyle. Or suddenly, you conceive the child of your dream. After a stellar pregnancy andlabor, the child is still born. These are all examples of suddenlies. They are the hallmark of a sifted season.
Great lessons are most often learned from defeats, not victories. Pain and broken dreams are a part of life that everyone would like to bypass; yet no one escapes. Though unpleasant, pain is perhaps the truest gage of a blessed life.
In great despair it is easy to forget that emotions are the direct opposite of a greater joy that was once experienced. Crisis is often the catalyst to great change and significant blessings. Those who survive do live again.
