The Sisters Brothers was a book that i was glad i read. The book is set in 1850s America.charlie and Eli Sisters are two professional killers who work for a man named commodore. They are on their way to California to kill a person named Hermit Warm. This book is about the incidents which happen along the way that change the lives of the brothers forever.

If you are tired of reading thrillers most of which have more or less the same plot (like Indian remakes of The Da Vinci Code),then this book will feel like a whiff of fresh air.

Unexpectedly beautiful and spell-binding

It's a story of two hired goons of an enigmatic persona aptly named as "Commodore", whose names are Charlie and Eli Sisters, or in short The Sisters brothers. They've been asked to kill a person named as Hermann Kermitt Warm in California and to bring a "formulah" from him. The story is set on 19th century USA, and what happens in their journey is what the story is. Patrick De Witt has beautifully blended the old west in a delightful manner and some one-liners in the book are simply masterpieces, at once funny and delightful. Patrick De Witt has beautifully blended the old west in a delightful manner and some one-liners in the book are simply masterpieces, at once funny and delightful. This is a classic, where darkly funny characters and situations seamlessly blend with tragedy, farce, fluid poetics and a deeper understanding of human psyche. Go for it for a whiff of originality like in the line of a Michael Frayn or the likes.

A very gripping narration.I had to read it without long breaks to enjoy it.The ending was a dampener though, still, recommend it highly for those who savor good reads!
