Book: Skimming Stones And My Little Brother I was born in Duluth, Minnesota, in 1950. For the first ten years of my life, I spent my summers with my grandparents in the northern farming community of Wisconsin. As with kids everywhere, when boredom sets in, we found ways to amuse ourselves, though not always to the amusement of surrounding adults. These stories represent the creative use of idle time as seen through the eyes of a nine-year-old. The storyteller reserves the right to all exaggerations and bragging involved. I live in Kenai, Alaska, with my very lovely and very tolerant wife, Susie, and my equally tolerant dog, Sam. I work as a cook in remote camps. That means flying into camp with a bush pilot, and flying back out again two weeks, or more, later. Being home only one week out of three keeps me off Susies nerves for two thirds of our lives. She appreciates my job. I have always had an interest in writing short stories, even though a teacher once said I was illiterate right before she flunked me. I hope you have as much fun reading these stories as I did living them.
