Social Work And Developmental Issues

Social Work as a profession and discipline has a reference group in the West but it has a contextual flavour too. Due to a lot of peculiarities in Indian society, social work profession should be guarded against its possible metamorphosis in India. Social work professionals, both educators and practitioners should be concerned about its universal relevance but they should not be ignoring natioanl priorities and local realities. In this publication the author has analysed the selected issues according to local, national and global parameters.

Professor Hajira Kumar, Head, Department of Social Work, Jamia Millia Islamia (A Central University), New Delhi, has been associated with teaching, research and extension for the last three decades. She is also providing professional and technical assistance to a number of NGOs, Ministries and Department of Social Work in other universities.
