Book Summary of SOCIOLOGY OF SCIENCE
This book deals with an emerging area of Sociology of Science in India. There is a reciprocal relationship between science and society. However, social scientists have paid asymmetrical attention to this relationship i.e. the impact of science on society has been dealth by many but the impact of society on science by very few scholars. This book has explored the impact of society on the public institutions of science from a sociological perspective.
About Author :
Dr. Madhav Govind is Assitant Professor at the Centre for Studies in Science Policy, School of Social Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.. A graduate in Life Science, he completed his MA in Sociology from the University of Lucknow with the first position in order of merit. He holds his MPhil and PHD from Jawaharlal Nehru University. He has worked on interface between science and society, theory of scientific knowledge, and scientific community in India. He has published many research papers in reputed journals and has also presented papers in many national seminars and conferences.
