1924. Burton writes in his Foreword: The Hymns and Songs of this book are some of the interludes of a busy life. Most of them have appeared in the columns of the religious press, many of them have been set to music, and some have found place in the Hymnals of Churches in England, America and Canada. They are not sent forth in this collected form that they may have a wider range of influence and service, and that their life may be something more than an ephemeral one.
