Good Drive
I always had good experience with this drive. My friends had complaining about Samsung, I suggest them this from Sony, even their experience is same.
Samsung stop reading or writing one type of disc after few months. A friend had new PC with LG drive, it broke my CD within 15 minutes. I used to play movies on Sony for 1 and half hour, it never broke.
The only thing common with all these drives is if we do not use it at all for a month or more, they do not work properly, the tray stuck insi...

Hot drive...Yet Working properly so far
Not ordered from Flipcart but ordered from a local dealer ....Sorry Flipcart

Hotter drive as compared to Asus DRW-24B3ST Internal Optical Drive (Black)
Got extremely hot with continuous Load ( This can be the reason of Failure in the future but "touch wood" Working fine till date)
Noisy

Hoping to give good performance ( But also consider negative comments)

Sony DRU-880S Internal Optical Drive
This product i bought from flipkart is working perfectly.
This is a genuine product from sony and works fines and really fast. The rate is economic and a buy able product. Though i'm not sure of the durability of the product but it is trust-able.

I hate Sony's Crappy computer hardwares!!!!
I'm advanced user for computer & after long time of experience of using Sony's ODDs/other hardware, I firmly believe that Sony failed to give reliable products (in this category - computer hardware). And no doubt it's customer support is also bad.
I'd used Sony's box-packed "DRU 810A" (bundled with software) - died early (compared to normal ODDs), then used "Optiarc AD-7260S" - died within 8/9 months!!! One of my friend (running photo studio) have same experience with Sony!!

Its OK.
Its decent. I mean its not the best drive. Not super fast. But if you think about it, other than installing games you never use the drive. Maybe movies, but now people use iTunes way more. Also Steam and Origin have replaced CD's. So you never use your drive anyway.

worst product
I brought this an year ago from local dealer . .. went bust just after an year and a month. Unlike to have the warranty void. Reason was that, the motor inside is dead. so no disk is detected as cd won't spin. Planning to buy lg from flip kart this time.

It is not Sony
Please don go for it on the name of Sony. These are local drive imported from third countries like China, Thailand and marked as Sony. I have heavy usage of DVD Write and 3 of my DVD RW gave up after just 50, 60 DVD Writes :x
Buy only if you have low usage.
For heavy usage go with ASUS :)

SONY-Made in China
I have had bad experiences with Sony drives. The quality of Sony drives is very poor.They are just like China Mobiles. I feel like paying for brand name - not quality. Drives from LG are a better choice.
