It at least deserves a 5 star.... it a winner dude...

Very strong contender in this price range...

One of the best Touch phones available in the market in this price range, though, it is my personal view that, from a practical perspective, one shell out a couple grand more and go for SK17i (=ST15i QWERTY).

I've been using SK17i for few weeks now and love all the features ST15i and SK15i have on offer. Overall build quality, devices' performance (barring one singular exception of battery backup limitations), features on offer (5MP camera with HD video recording at 720p and host of other settings like Imagine Stabalization that you would normally find in a digicam, tonnes of Android apps, SNS integration, xLoud experience, Timescape, Bravia Engine, Accelarometer, zero-lag SE UI, dedicated GPU unit, GPS, calendar and mailbox clarity, integrated browser goodies, 1 GHz processor, 512 MB RAM...and still counting) are worth every penny.

A little downside is 320 MB internal memory (which spelt like "all this horsepower and no room to gallop"), but that can be taken care of by putting in a decently sized SD card (say 16 GB) and ensuring you use it for all your data and app installations.

If QWERTY is not a show-stopper for you and your budget is 10-15k, ST15i is one of the strongest contenders out there.

I would have done a more detailed review here, but I would rather reserve that for SK17i. I plan to write, in due course of the remainder of this month, a more detailed experience on the different features, apps and settings that make my day work.

On a concluding note, I would encourage you to define your needs according to your budget and gather ample amount of data before you theorize and make your way towards a decision. Here is how I normally go about it:

1. Define my budget. How much can I "actually" afford to spend upon the phone?

2. Do I have the time and inclination to stretch beyond my current budget? If yes, wait...there's more coming (what with tonnes of releases coming for Android devices along with Microsoft Windows Mobile 7.5 "Mango" devices about to hit the market by the end of Q4 too). If no, let's get to the next step.

3. Scan all devices available within that budget. Avoid looking here and there amongst devices in other price range. Gather data...detailed information about all the features.

4. Now match those features against your daily needs. Define your LIMits (Like to have, Intend to have, Must have its). Avoid "creating" needs.

5. Zero down upon the device that is the closest match to your needs. Visit store for a live experience with devices' demo units, if possible, before you close the deal.

So, overall, SE ST15i packs some seriously how-ever-did-I-live-without-that features which will certainly give a new dimension to way you have known a Smartphone up till now. It sets standards for fellow devices with its rich features, excellent quality, bundled goodies, pricing and sports one of the finest and smoothest UIs available out there.

All the very best with your buy...

If this is your first android not a best Choice

Using since: Septemeber 1st week 2011
Pro's: Awesome audio quality, extremely handy, good picture quality with 5.0 mega pixels, Touch sensitivity is no match with other phones.
Con's: Started this problem since 1st week of november.
1. Functionality of back and option buttons are always on [Whenever u click on anything on screen it comes out]
2. U cannot type a single message as menu option keeps poping
3. Any apps or games will be forecfully excited.
4. When the phone is charing u will see 10 missed calls. when u check log there will be none.[It's sum of all missed calls in your call log]
5. Calls dont get connected.
6. Phone vibrates a lot...
Advise: Check for the manufacturing version. You should be able to see that when you remove your battery. 11w31 [is mine]
Sony have a collabration fix for this issue for mobiles manufactured before 11w38. Don't buy the one's which was made after 11w39 until sony officialy admits there is a problem

Cute, but won't work for everyone

Since this products been reviewed several times before, I'll get right to the pros & cons (IMHO):
Pros:
> Crisp clear display, good response to touch
> A fast 1 GHz Qualcomm Scorpion processor
> Feels solid and is beautifully finished.
> 10/10 for looks! A really classy looking phone
> HD recording + LED flash(really handy in low light conditions)
> Camera's not gr8, but will do the job for most.
> Has all the software features you would need. Comes loaded with the Android v2.3 (Gingerbread). The shortcut buttons on the 4 corners r really handy.
> Music playback is good. I would describe the highs as sweet and the bass has got good weight to it. (The on board media player sucks though)
And now for the cons :
> Low battery life, you will have to charge it everyday
> I don't know if this is specific to android phones, but my phone heats up quite a bit after 10-15 min continuous talk or running an application.
> Built in music player just doesn't cut it. Don't know why they would load such an underwhelming player onto it. (However, installing a 3rd party app like Poweramp changes that. The true potential of the device is unleashed. The sound quality just takes a huge leap for the better.)
> Even the built in Picture viewer as well as video player is not upto the mark. They simply do not resolve the image well enough for the display. ( Again, 3rd party apps solves this)

So, to sum up, this is a really cute luking phone. It has got the features and does almost everything that you would expect of an Android phone. However, the poor battery performance means that a heavy user would simply get irritated having to deal with charging it all the time. Even if all you do is send messages all day, the batt would still drain quickly since the major part is consumed by that beautiful display. To add to this, Sony's after sales service is not that great(often have to face with shortage of spares)
If, on the other hand, you are a Sony Ericsson fan or if you are not such a heavy user & can deal with the batt. issue, I would gladly recommend this phone. One look at it, and its simply hard to ignore :)
