Belonging to Sony’s highly successful HDR series of high definition camcorders, the HDR-190E sports a stylish and sleek body that makes it increasingly efficient and highly portable. Sporting a highly advanced Exmor R CMOS Image Sensor, this camcorder has an effective sensor resolution of 1.31 megapixels.

The combining of the CMOS sensor and a powerful BIONZ image processor, this camcorder has the ability to record stunning 1080p Full HD videos and also capture high quality images with a maximum resolution of 3072 x 1728 pixels. The high quality images are captured in the JPEG file format while the videos are saved in the MPEG2-PS format for standard definition and in the MPEG4 AVC format while recording in high definition.

The audio recording while in video mode is captured by the camcorders built-in zoom microphone and reproduced in Dolby Digital 2 channel stereo or Dolby Digital Stereo Creator format. The SteadyShot image stabilizer ensures that your videos and images appear blur-free, even if the camcorder experiences shake or movement during recording.

Performance

The HDR-CX190E sports a Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens with Primary (RGB) Colour Filter that has a focal length of 2.5 mm - 62.5 mm which is the 35 mm equivalent of 36 mm - 1080 mm. This gives the camcorder an optical zoom of 25x and a digital zoom of 300x. There is also the availability of a 30x extended zoom feature to ensure that all your distant subjects are captured with great clarity.

The TTL or through the lens contrast detection autofocus system with a macro focus range of 39 cm, ensures the sharpness of the subject in focus, giving you clear and undisturbed footage. The aperture control on this Sony camcorder has a range of f/1.8 - f/3.2, which gives you the ability to control the lens opening which in turn controls that amount of light that falls on the image sensor. With a shutter speed ranging from a maximum of 1/10000 sec and a minimum of 1/8 sec, the HDR-CX190E is more than capable of capturing fast moving objects or even create a dramatic reproduction of a particular moment, especially under low light.

With a whole host of perset shooting and white balancing modes, the HDR-CX190E is capable of working to its efficient best even under very specific situations or unfavourable conditions. The presence of Face Detection on this camcorder recognizes faces within the frame and optimizes exposure and focus settings specifically for them. The addition of a self-timer function lets you delay shutter release by 10 seconds, giving you enough time to compose a frame and be part of the photograph.

The HDR-CX190E lets you transfer all your captured images and videos on to a PC or a laptop by using its Type A, mini-AB/USB 2.0 port. This camcorder further features a composite AV out along with a HDMI mini port so that you get the added luxury of viewing all your captured files on high definition or a standard definition television.
