Description

Sony Nex-5K is an interchangeable lens digital camera, which falls between the compact cameras and the DSLR cameras. This mirror-less camera provides many important features of a DSLR camera, but in a more compact body. Sony Nex-5K will be an ideal camera for users looking to switch from the compact camera to a DSLR camera. The camera is powered by BIONZ image processor and has an Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor with 23.4 x 15.6 mm dimension. Sony Nex-5K is a 14.2 megapixel camera and supports aspect ratios of 3:2 and 16:9. Body
The Nex-5K weighs 229g and has dimension of 110.8 x 58.8 x 38.2 mm. Instead of a Viewfinder, the camera utilizes a 3-inch TFT screen with Xtra Fine LCD and TruBlack technology. The screen has a resolution of 921,600 dot pixels and can be tilted by 3-inch to take pictures easily. This Sony camera uses the Memory Stick PRO Duo/PRO-HG Duo for storage, along with SD, SDHC and SDXC memory card. The Nex-5K comes with NP-FW50 Battery which can take up to 330 pictures in one charge. The Sony Nex-5K can be mounted with Sony E-mount lens. It can also mount Sony Alpha, Minolta and Konica Minolta AF lenses with the help of an adapter. The camera supports Digital Zoom from 1.1x - 10x. Nex-5K has an Auto Contrast detection type of Auto Focus (AF) and it supports Single-shot AF and Continuous AF modes.

The Auto ISO of the camera ranges from ISO 200-1600, while the Manual ISO can be selected from ISO 200-12800. The Shutter speed of the camera ranges from 1/4000 to 30 sec. An external Flash comes with the Sony Nex-5K kit, which has a range of 16mm.

Features and Connectivity
The Sony Nex-5K comes with the 3D Sweep Panorama function and has various Scene modes such as Portrait, Landscape, Macro, Sports Action, Sunset, Night Portrait, Night View and Hand-held Night Shot. The camera comes with Optical SteadyShot image stabilization system on selected lenses to counter camera shake.

The face recognition feature can detect up to 8 faces. A user can set up a self timer of 2 or 10 secs. Nex-5K supports continuous mode of up to 2.3 fps at a normal mode and 7 fps at speed priority continuous mode. The Nex-5K can shoot video at a Full HD resolution of 1080p. The camera supports AVCHD and MP4 movie formats, while for image it supports RAW, RAW & JPEG, JPEG Fine and JPEG Standard. In terms of connectivity, the camera supports USB 2.0 and HDMI mini connector (Type-C).

Sony NEX-5 A Surprise Package

I am an amateur photographer and am used to an habit of upgrading my cameras. The most important feature i require in a camera is that is has to be user friendly, fast and easy to use, as i believe that the most beautiful pictures are not captured when you wait patiently but when you just spot the object, unpack your camera and capture your shot before you loose it. ( Expressions in my case)
The Sony NEX 5 amuses me every time. I frankly opted for this camera as i was a little low on budget...

A great Camera to Jump from Digicam

The SONY NEX 5 Camera is really great for the Professional Photography. Simple very Light , Compare to Nikon, Canon DSLR, as it doesnt need Mirrors for the Image Processing, rather deliver SLR quality Images with the Innovative Sony Technology. While I am using it now for the first time, I felt comfortable shooting with the 18-55 mm Lenses.

Got it in time and in excellent packing as expected from Flipkart. Very easy to use. Although takes times getting used to it. Excellent quality of images. Scene mode is very helpful for photographs in night, sports mode etc. Worth every penny. Compact and quality at par with DSLR.

Nice camera but read

Hi this camera does almost everything a dslr can.. I have been using dslrs from a long time and i brought this for street photography.. Here is something that you should consider before buying this one..

If you are new to dslr photography, this is a great learner camera. You can actully see how your picture would look like before you click one.

nice camera decent price good size

well for me SLR is huge size i cant take all where , nex 5 is solid build i can grab well in my hand , i believe taking photograph is quality of photographer just camera need have that capability , i buy this camera from sony showroom but price still better here .
pros :
-solid build i can say SLR quality images , video.
- not big size compact , good lens , good functionality
- big enough sensor to take better pics
- faster shutter speed same as SLR

MIRRORLESS

I actually planning to buy one of these cameras 1st time. After choosing this cam my doubt is wats this mirror-less, will this be better than the cameras with mirrors .
i just read about mirrorless cams, the disadvantages are TTL view finder, these cams cannot use existing lens.
can u get me a solution for this before i buy one.
