Sony Walkman NWZ-A845/B 16 GB Video MP3 Player (Black)

I was looking for the following features in a music player before I buy:

1. Folder navigation/play (I listen to songs of multiple languages which do not have proper ID3 tags, so iPod is definitely not for me)
2. Good battery backup
3. Buttons (and not touch screen, cuz I travel by bike often. I'd want to change tracks or increase volume without looking at the screen)
4. 16 GB minimum (to cater to my music of various genres)

Trust me, I did a whirlwind search and experienced all the music players in the market. NONE of them satisfied all the above features except Sony Walkman NWZ-A845.

Once the above features are satisfied, every other feature would only be a bonus for me. Let me list some of the features I most like:

1. Active noise canceling headphones. This eliminates the almost all the noise in the background. So, you can use this feature either to either work/read in a noise environment or listen to music. I LOVE this.
2. Awesome OLED screen. You will enjoy watching videos on the screen I personally have put many seasons of "The Big Bang Theory" and enjoy those while I travel.
3. Super sound quality, puts iPod to shame. I'm not saying this, experts are. Try googling for reviews, you will know. It's rated between 4/5 stars on all tech blogs :).

As with anything else, this device comes with its own limitations, let me list them:

1. No other useful features like auto-sleep or alarm etc
2. No loud speaker
3. No software ecosystem, as in I can't install apps for sleep function for instance.

The pros however far outweigh the cons. So definitely a big thumbs up!.

Let me start with the things i was looking for before i bought this product.

1. Great Bass
2. Clear Sound
3. Ability to isolate external sound
4. Good battery backup
5. Good DB output
6. Custom Presets
7. In-Ear headphones
8. More than 8 GB space
9. Video playback
10 Ergonomics

Except for the resolution this product supports for Video playback let me tell you that I am more than satisfied with the product.

Its Noise Cancellation is amazing and the external sounds goes away completely so you can enjoy your music completely. Also you can even listen to those minute background instruments that generally get lost in the external sound.

The Bass in Sony is undisputed, no arguments in that and trust me I have listened to iPod, Creative, San-disk, Philips and a bunch of others no one comes close o it with their supplied headphones.

The audio level output is amazing, I rarely go above 14 points (it has 30 points) and I have a 7.1 at my home which I blast at 40% volume at-least.

The device is very sleek and nice to hold in hand or keep in pocket.

From my point of view the device has the following pros.
- Great Sound
- Amazing Bass
- Noise Cancellation
- Audio Clarity
- Headphones with noise cancellation
- Good Display
- Easiness to operate
- Good battery backup (gives me ~12 Hrs at 14 vol. level, 320 KBPS, custom preset with bass boost at max, noise cancellation and stereo surround) more than enough for me

The things that Sony could have done more in this device would be:

-- Support for multiple Video codec (DivX and others, currently it only plays MP4 files (H264))
-- Ability to install apps
-- A larger video resolution support (720p at-least)
-- At-least a 3.5 inch screen (touch would be a definite game winner)

My final conclusion would be that this device is amazing in features but could use some more modifications, but all-in-all an amazing product from Sony.

Slim, Stylish sony LED player Plays movies and videos very well, i like hollywood movie trailers looks nice, screen resolution is 400*240 pixels but it has capability of handling video resolution upto 720*480 pixels, so convert ur videos to that resolution and u enjoy the quality, i use next video convertor, content transfer software given by sony is not good and need upgrade. video zoom is nice. even we can forward and rewind, scroll through chapters of videos easily very useful while watching movies. Player has also last memory remember - plays video from place where it is stopped before.

When it comes to audio we have to use only noise cancellation earphones or headphones for real effect, if u use any other audio will be just normal, ok kind. Very nice watch jpeg images. Also have FM, podcasts, 16 GB space.

It seems like battery is draining quickly while watching videos, may be due to 480p video i watch. U can use
720*480, 640*480,480*320, 480*272, etc

Overall its a decent buy, great for watching movies.

I didn't purchase this player through FlipKart but I got it from Sony Dealer.

This is one awesome piece of gadget. It has got a brilliant screen and sound quality is out of the world. The noise cancelling feature was very useful in blanking out noise and giving out crystal clear music.

The simple drag and drop feature to store songs in the player makes transferring music very easy. It has got awesome pre-loaded photos which can be used as wall papers.

My player came with highlights of the UEFA Champions League 07-08 season, which Man United won:-) This further sweetened my experience with the player!

Worth every paise I paid for this player!

Hi I bought this product 10 days back and in the timeframe in between I was actualy gauging the performance of this beautiful bu powerful gadget.
Here is what I found for and against it :

Pros:
1.Beautiful design and light but strong built quality.
2.Big screen size for engrossing video playing experience.
3. Sound quality is AWESOME, Just too good.In all the frequency range.
4. flat control buttons , easy to operate.
5. Excellent noise cancelling functionality .

Cons:
1. I can't think of any !!

just go ahead and buy this product . Don't fall for apple 's so called " Beautiful" i-pod . Sony has beat apple's pant down with this one.
