I bought a Sony digital media player model NWZ E444 one year one month back from Sony showroom. Now, the player is not working. When I connect the player to PC I could not able to open the drive.
Also player switches on and the says “ Every moment has its music” and then the only sign of activity on the startup screen is that the four dots on the lower right of the LCD make a moving pattern. None of the buttons, including the Hold switch and Volume controls on the side, getting any response.
When I connect it to my computer (windows xp os), a circle made up of two arrows appears on the screen, with the following text below it:
The Timer and Alarm will
The battery charge symbol in the lower right is active, but rest of screen is frozen. Battery is getting charged and even says full after it is fully recharged. This problem exist with many customers who bought Sony mp3 players worldwide. Kindly check with Google to know more. Check the below forum for similar complaints the customers have discussed.
i took it to
DIGITAL VISION NO: 2 PRAKASAM STREET JANAKI NAGAR VALASARAAKKAM CHENNAI – 600087
for srevice and the service man said Main board needs to changed and the cost estimation is more than the players price. It is funny to know that a branded, trusted Sony product goes completely dead within one year. I lost the belief in the brand called Sony.
Beware of sony products.
i ordered friday evening... received it on tuesday (holidays excluded). Flipkart delivers on time. Thanks.
I have had a couple of mp3 players in the past; Creative zen, ipod nano 2gb (back in 2006), and a sony NWZ series. i really liked the ipod coz it had a long battery life, sounds great but the only downside was the device is dependent on itunes and you cant just drag and drop mp3s to the device and also you cant share music (copy and paste you know what i mean).
The creative zen was cool. but the downside was the battery life. wont last a day.
The sony NWZ series was great: great sound, good battery life, bass boost and voice recording all in one. the bad thing about the device is, since the screen is small and surfing mp3 content becomes a problem.. for eg you want to listen to a particular song you have to scroll all the way down to look for the song... mind you it takes time. seperating songs in folder helps though.but if your the kind who likes listening to songs randomly without surfing much. this maybe better.
well to kind of solve these above mentioned problems and to upgrade my music player i bought this device.i am impressed with the battery, ease of use and loading files (copy and paste). below are the things i like and dislike:
- ease of use and surfing music (artiste, folder, alphabetical)
- clear bass (but eats up the battery:-(
- good all round sound, clear with a bass punch (not great, NWZ sounds better)
- Photo Viewer
- good battery life
- volume control placement
- display screen okay for me.. i only use it to listen to music and browsing them.
- good earphones
- No voice recording (Sony NWZ series have)
- Only WMV video supported (mp4, avi, divx not supported)
- Cheap plastic body
- control buttons are cheap and hard... feels like those cheap chinese made players.
- scratch mark easily visible (Plastic!)
for its price i think its pretty loaded with features. but i dont understand why sony didnt include voice recording... their cheaper models alos have them!
with the decent price tag , if you are the kind who is looking for a good sounding music player (not video) with good battery life and likes browsing for those special songs with ease than this is the player for you.
i am having fun with mine. just one complain though... voice recording would have been great:-)

Got the sony player from flipkart and it was delivered just in 1/2 working day ! Hats off to flipkart.
Sony known for its quality product is again proven in this MP4 player too. The soothing music jingles in the ears and options in the players are handy and does not need much search to figure out the options.
It took less than 5mins to get trained with the player! and the placement controls are too comfortable. I Highly recommend this product.
trust me guys i have this its perfect. it works fine.sound quality and the bass is very good. if you are hard metal or metal song lovers it good and the video is also great. just handle it with care never drop it and i am sure you'll find it good to go . the only i didn't like was that every time you want a video you need to convert it
