This is the Gujarati edition of Rashmi Bansal's book Stay Hungry Stay Foolish about 25 IIM graduates who decided to tread their own path, and succeeded.

Summary Of The Book

The title of Stay Hungry Stay Foolish has been taken from Steve Jobs’ speech at Stanford in 2005. The author has used this to illustrate some of the basic attributes needed for entrepreneurs. Stay hungry for opportunities, dare to tread a path that might seem foolish to most people.
Entrepreneurship inherently includes the necessity to be enterprising and bold, to explore new avenues, and be ready to take some risks. This is what the 25 IIM Ahmedabad graduates profiled in this book did.

Stay Hungry Stay Foolish was commissioned by IIMA’s Centre for Innovation, Incubation, and Entrepreneurship (CIIE). The people featured in the book are from diverse backgrounds and have diverse personalities. All of them also shared one common link other than their alma mater, they dared to follow their dream, and were successful.

The book is divided into three sections, The Believers, The Opportunists, and The Alternate Vision. The profiles have been grouped under these three sections based upon how the people came to choose this path.

The Believers section has ten profiles of people who always knew that this was what they wanted to do, that is become entrepreneurs. The Opportunists section profiles eleven people who did not start out with such a dream, but took advantage of the opportunity once it came their way.

The Alternate Vision section profiles four people who decided to use their entrepreneurship skills for a different purpose. They used their business skills to bring about social change, or simply to give expression to their creativity.

A few of the people profiled in this book are Sanjeev Bikhchandani, the founder of naukri.com, Madan Mohanka, the founder of Tega Industries, Chender Baljee, the founder of Royal Orchid Hotels, Vardan Kabra, the founder of Fountainhead School, Shantanu Prakash, the founder of Educomp, Narendra Murkumbi, the founder of Shree Renuka Sugars, Sunil Handa, the founder of Eklavya Education Foundation, Vinayak Chatterjee, the founder of Feedback Ventures, Ashank Desai, the founder of Mastek, Vikram Talwar, the founder of EXL Service, Deep Kalra, the founder of makemytrip.com, Jerry Rao, the founder of Mphasis, Nirmal Jain, the founder of India Infoline, Ruby Ashraf, the founder of Precious Formals, K Raghavendra Rao, the founder of Orchid Pharma, and R Subramanian, the founder of Subhiksha.

Stay Hungry Stay Foolish contains interesting bits of information about these people, and the reasons they became entrepreneurs. Their way to success might also serve as lessons in entrepreneurship for young people who are thinking of setting out on their own.
