Inventor, Visionary, Genius, Dropout, Adopted, Steve Jobs was the founder of Apple and he was all of these things.
Steve Jobs has been described as a showman, artist, tyrant, genius, jerk. Through his life he was loved, hated, admired and dismissed, yet he was a living legend; the genius who founded Apple in his parent's garage when he was just 20 years old, revolutionising the music world. He single-handedly introduced the first computer that could sit on your desk and founded and nurtured a company called Pixar bringing to life Oscar wining animations Toy Story and Finding Nemo.
So how did the man, who was neither engineer nor computer geek change the world we live in, making us want every product he touched?
On graduation day in 2005, a fifty-year-old Steve Jobs said: ‘Today I want to tell you three stories from my life, That's it. Just three stories'. The first story is about connecting the dots. My second story is about love and loss. My third story is about death.
This is his story...
Critically acclaimed author Karen Blumenthal takes us to the core of this complicated and legendary man, from his adoption and early years through to the pinnacles of his career, his dismissal from his duties at Apple (for being too disruptive and difficult) to the graduation where he gave the commencement speech just 6 years before his death, giving life to what were soon to become some of most famous quotes of his career, ending with the message: “Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish. And I have always wished that for myself. And now, as you graduate to begin anew, I wish that for you.”
“Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life.”

There have been many authors cashing in on the Steve Jobs fad going on ever since he died. This is one such attempt.
The good stuff :
The book covers everything - right from his childhood to his death. It even covers his sister's eulogy.
The bad stuff :
There is nothing new in the book. And it is also not the best one available to know about Steve Jobs. ( Having read 4 books on him till now, I can easily recommend you reading the Walter Isssacson biography. That's the best I have read on him. )
The writing style is just about average. The author herself has taken all the information from publicly available sources. So, nothing great there.
Final verdict :
You won't miss anything if you skip this book.
This book, though cannot be compared with Sir Walter Issacson's work (official biography of Steve Jobs)..but is a good read in itself :)
It covers all the timeline and events happened, in a more precise way.
So, if you want to skip the 600+ pages of the official biography, then you must go for this alternative and you'll like it for sure.
I have gone through both the books and hence, haven't missed any ;)
A really nice book and it tells a lot of good things about Steve Jobs and his life. He was one of the greatest innovators and his obsession with details and quality has become legendary. It is an education to read this book and I really loved it a lot. I recommend it to anyone who wants to know about this technology titan who influenced our lives in such a big manner.
I had bought the book for my 7th graders. When I got the delivery I flipped a few pages and liked the book so much that I finished it in 4 days. A very interesting book which can be given to children above 13 years. We all know that 'Jobs' of 'Apple' has given us many amazing products. But one must pick up this book not only to find out how and why he was a genius but also knocks over the true and varied shades of his personality.
