The Steve Jobs Way is a book that provides a peek into the managerial and leadership style followed by Steve Jobs, through the eyes of a close colleague of his.
Summary Of The Book
The Steve Jobs Way delivers a fresh account of Steve Jobs’ journey with Apple, and the book also tries to convey Jobs’ style of innovative thinking and leadership.
Jay Elliot is the former Senior Vice President of Apple, and he provides an insider’s account on Steve Jobs and his style of working at Apple. Elliot covers the significant portions of Jobs’ life, starting from the design of the initial products like the Macintosh to Jobs’ sudden dismissal from the company and his later comeback.
The book traces the leadership style followed by Steve Jobs’ and the Apple culture of promoting simplicity and excellence. It explores the four key components of ‘iLeadership’ - talent, product, marketing, and organization. While talking about these components, the book also highlights the main factor that set Jobs apart from the rest - his obsession with consumer satisfaction and easy usability, which is consistent with Apple’s extremely minimalistic products like the iPod, iPad and iPhone. In this book, the authors also discuss Jobs’ involvement with Pixar Animation Studios.
The book explores Steve Jobs’ relationship with Apple through interviews with key players in the company, and it reveals several facets of Jobs’ character and career that are not widely known. Written from the perspective of a close colleague, this book provides a view of Steve Jobs and Apple that is up close and personal.

Very poorly written..rather than give factual information or real life tales, this book is a compilation of a stream of sycophancy.
Does not come anywhere close to iCon.
if you are a die hard Apple and Steve Jobs fan..wouldnt recommend this book at all. Wait for the offical biography.
I got this Book a week ago that too only a day after me booking it online..! thats great..! I must say that the delivery system from Flipkart is just Awesome..! It is a good read for the Steve Fans till his real Autobiography comes to market. This book has many stories that led to Mac, iPod, and iPhone's invention that changed the way how the World perceived about Electronic Gadgets. I liked one particular article where Steve tells his Apple team to come up with a Mobile which has only Button other than Green and Red (Receiving and Hanging up )..! His team says it is impossible..! He immediately tells them..! I want this..! Go figure it out how to do this..! This eventually leaded to the Birth of iPhone what we see today..! Isn't it interesting..! Go checkout this book which has lots of interesting Stories about Apple, Steve, Woznoic, of course about IBM..! On why he used to Hate that Company and compare their work to Washing a Dead Fish on the Shore..!! Bring it on..!! Who knows even you can be a STEVE one DAY..!!
Good Luck,
Sharath
Want to know more about Steve Jobs and ideology of his working style and management style, then its a must buy. Excellent book gives you insight into many information about the brand Apple and how it evolved over years.
Well about the service from flipkart it had always been excellent.I used to get books delivered very next day.
As from the previous comments.....people do have some negative view on that.....but I would rather like to call it 'their mistake in pre-visualizing'.....this is not Steve's biography or Autobiography.....this is a particular view of Steve's close friend and his psychological advisor in his tenure during Apple Co. as a vice-president of the same, Jay Elliot......on how steve react to certain things....or 'problems' (a better word) and derive the solutions for the same......it's all about how Steve manages the same.....good for people who are psychologically strong enough to derive the 'do and dont's' from a master.....and good for easy read (fans).....it doesn't point like normal business books...."do this and that for success".....et al.....but who can grab the inner motive....takes it all....and believe me....it's helful and eases out few of your own dealings.....
There's a say.....few stuffs have been cleared by masters and you got to learn from it, expriment with it, and Implement it (if positive) or Discard it (if negative).....it just saves time from experimenting it from the zero level.....there's a lot more new stuffs you got to experiment (from zero) rather than experimenting what's already experimented before.....
For those with hillarious negative comments....."This book is much much better (not awesome ofcourse)"......"and"....."if you found it deceptive.....maybe this is not the right book for you.....or whatever you are looking for.....I mean....the straight forward one....(you understood).....alike the books of law suits.......'do's and dont's"...... ((-_^))
Took a while to read the book. I had to force myself to read the last 50 or so pages.
Well, the author does make efforts to make the readers understand Steve Jobs' persona and aura but this is done in very short incidents and I felt the book has no real advice to offer on Leadership like it is advertised on the cover. In fact, the author mentions incidents where he himself failed in his startups after quitting Apple.
The major disappointment was that there were no real guidelines for the readers on what THEY could do to imbibe his qualities (or maybe I was expecting too much!)
3/5 for the book
