  • Description

The Steve Jobs Way is a book that provides a peek into the managerial and leadership style followed by Steve Jobs, through the eyes of a close colleague of his.

    Summary Of The Book

The Steve Jobs Way delivers a fresh account of Steve Jobs’ journey with Apple, and the book also tries to convey Jobs’ style of innovative thinking and leadership.

Jay Elliot is the former Senior Vice President of Apple, and he provides an insider’s account on Steve Jobs and his style of working at Apple. Elliot covers the significant portions of Jobs’ life, starting from the design of the initial products like the Macintosh to Jobs’ sudden dismissal from the company and his later comeback.

The book traces the leadership style followed by Steve Jobs’ and the Apple culture of promoting simplicity and excellence. It explores the four key components of ‘iLeadership’ - talent, product, marketing, and organization. While talking about these components, the book also highlights the main factor that set Jobs apart from the rest - his obsession with consumer satisfaction and easy usability, which is consistent with Apple’s extremely minimalistic products like the iPod, iPad and iPhone. In this book, the authors also discuss Jobs’ involvement with Pixar Animation Studios.

The book explores Steve Jobs’ relationship with Apple through interviews with key players in the company, and it reveals several facets of Jobs’ character and career that are not widely known. Written from the perspective of a close colleague, this book provides a view of Steve Jobs and Apple that is up close and personal.

    It's the 'Steve Jobs way'.....and not.....Steve's Biography

As from the previous comments.....people do have some negative view on that.....but I would rather like to call it 'their mistake in pre-visualizing'.....this is not Steve's biography or Autobiography.....this is a particular view of Steve's close friend and his psychological advisor in his tenure during Apple Co. as a vice-president of the same, Jay Elliot......on how steve react to certain things....or 'problems' (a better word) and derive the solutions for the same......it's all about how ...

The Steve Jobs Way- A close assessment.

Jay Elliot with Will Simon gives an idea about Job's philosophy about manufacturing quality product keeping an average consumer in view. Job's followed his dreams relentlessy. Elliot explains how he did it.By the time one completes the book he or she would want to follow the example of Jobs. Elliot's Success is making the reader feel like it. It is as interesting as a, say thriller, which one would want to read in one sitting.

    amazing book to read

This was my first book to read on Steve Jobs, I read it 1.5 months back. After reading this book I became a fan of Steve Jobs. Also I became a fan of the author Jay who worked with steve as his mentor in apple.
I still remember so many statements from the book one goes “when Jay walks into the room, steve becomes a different person”.

I salute Jay for writing such a nice book. I will await the next book from Jay Elliot.
    Thanks,

    Very nice elaboration....

Jay was very close to Steve and this is shown in this book. He explains the traits of Jobs in an intuitive way.
A very nice book for fans of Steve to have a close look at how Steve managed to create such great products and become one of the great CEOs of all time.
Jay elaborates the decision making and visionary powers of Steve in the most simplest way possible. Do read it once if you are an admirer of Steve, in even a very little of ways...

Not a self-help or business book if you are searching for one!

Took a while to read the book. I had to force myself to read the last 50 or so pages.

Well, the author does make efforts to make the readers understand Steve Jobs' persona and aura but this is done in very short incidents and I felt the book has no real advice to offer on Leadership like it is advertised on the cover. In fact, the author mentions incidents where he himself failed in his startups after quitting Apple.

The major disappointment was that there were no real guidelines for the...
