Esmarelda just has the worst luck with husbands. Each one seems to be the perfect match for her and they have a wonderful marriage-at least for awhile. Tragically, each one of them has passed away after a few short, ecstatic years with the luscious auburn-haired, blue-eyed Esmarelda. Of course, the bright side of the picture is-her most recent husband always leaves Esmarelda a much richer widow than the husband before. What's wrong with this picture? Now, Esmarelda has stolen a once happily-married city bus driver from his loving family and is having second thoughts about her choice when she happens to discover that her Willy, who lives so unassumingly spending very little money, is in reality a very astute stock trader with a hefty portfolio and she makes her plans accordingly. Unfortunately for Esmarelda, this time she chose to steal a man with grown children who are not so quick to believe her lies. They enlist the aid of a private investigator and all of Esmarelda's dark secrets slowly boil to the top of the kettle. The Sting of a Black Widow is a classic tale of "What goes around comes around." Ms. Hayes has taken an event from her own life and crafted a compelling story around it. You will rage at Esmeralda for her selfish, insensitive actions, cry with the family torn apart by her machinations, and cheer when she gets her come-uppance. A great read for a rainy day.
