The Story Of A Fighter Pilot: World War Ii

This story is about my experiences with the 314th Fighter Squadron of the 324th Fighter Group in Africa, Sicily, Italy, Corsica and France as a combat pilot flying P-40's, P-47's and Spitfires in 1943 and 1944. Other activities involved fighter escort of bombers and dive-bombing as close support to our infantry. I was also involved in flying over enemy lines as a spotter for bombers attacking enemy positions. The story includes my life before World War II and after I returned to the states and civilian life. This is a tale of many narrow escapes and life in the wartime countries.
