I found this DVD in the local retail store and was about to make a purchase, however differed for few days. I was quite versed with Flipkart and found the product at a discounted rate and never went back to the retail store

Michael Wood is a Historian and presenter par-excellence, with whom you can easily relate and live the adventure through the documentaries.He easily brings forth the local essence and culture and seemlessly blend the present to the past. This documentory is excellent account of India`s 3000 year journey till independence and her transformation from the Indus to Ganges, Myths to Madness, carefully de-coding our history.

I have also read and own other works of Micahel Wood:
- In the Footsteps of Alexander the Great
- In Search of Myths and Heroes
- The Story Of India

There are critics who debate the historical evidence of the Aryans and more, however to me this is an documentory worth possessing and I recommend this DVD edition as an "Collector`s Item" and which can be enjoyed over and over again, each time with an rendition of its own.

Very precise, with big scope & optimum depth, author has depicted the store of India, very effectively. The collection of facts and proofs about India, from 60-70,000 years till date, is impressive. The widely covered interviews, meeting with various historians, librarian, dynastic and other people, reaching all round corners of India, is outstanding. The author has successfully discovered the true heart of India.The un-biased-ness of the views, is the most appreciable part of story. All facts and truths are laid down on table in 6 hours ! This is the most qualitative story ever known to me. The author's (Mechel Wood) narration, picking of facts, expressiveness, emphathy, enthusiasm, all are extremly appreciable. Direction and photography is very good & impressive. Original and featured Music are touchy and relavent. Many thanks to the whole team, for creating such a wonderful Story Of India.

I ordered this and received the package in 3 days time. First of all Michael isn't just another foreigner who comes for a week to shoot a documentary. He is an established historian and a lover of the true India. This DVD is a visual treat spanning thousands of years narrated brilliantly and with such panache that every Indian watching this will be proud to be born here. Michael Wood's documentary The Story of India is a brilliant documentary on Indian History. The weaving of historical events with the relevant visuals and splendid commentary makes it a collector's item. I have never been a keen student of History but the DVD bound me to see all the 6 episodes in quick succession. It is also commendable on part of Wood that he has made delicate balance on controvertial events viz partition of India or Ayodhya conflict.
