The Story of My Experiments with Truth: An Autobiography was initially published part by part in Mahatma Gandhi’s Gujarati journal Navajivan and its English version was published in his other journal called Young India.
This edition of Mahatma Gandhi’s autobiography contains the text of the original translator, Mahadev Desai, as the translator’s preface to the book. Apart from this, this book also contains a foreword to this edition by the prominent Indian author and essayist, Pankaj Mishra. This book starts with an introduction written by the man himself, where the readers will come to know why, where, and how Mahatma Gandhi, also known as Mohan Das Karamchand Gandhi, took up the task of writing an autobiography.
This edition of his autobiography is divided chronologically into four main parts that has elaborate descriptions of his life and his experiences. The four parts of this book highlight the various phases of his life, like his birth and parentage, his marriage, his life after marriage, his trips to South Africa and the hardships he faced while practicing law, his life during his stay in the then Poona and Madras, his experiments with the deadly weapon of Satyagraha, his journey from Mohan to Mahatma, his religious acquaintances, casteism, National Indian Congress, his stories after he returned to India, about his influences, his life as a brahmachari, his introspection of his life, how he overcame his shyness to speak up in front of people, his spiritual dilemma, his role in India’s struggle for freedom, and many more.
This book was denominated as one of the most spiritual books of the twentieth century among hundred other books.
About Mahatma Gandhi
Mohan Das Karamchand Gandhi is called the Father of the Nation for his leadership in the struggle for India's freedom. He was better known as Bapuji and Mahatma Gandhi.

Mahatma Gandhi was born on 2nd October in the year 1869 in Porbandar, Gujarat. His birthday is observed as a national holiday in India and as an International Day of Non-Violence in the rest of the world. He was an observer of non-violence and a prominent leader in the fight for freedom against the the British regime in India. Gandhi did his mid schooling in Porbandar and Rajkot.
He completed his tenth from the Samaldas College situated in Bhavnagar, Gujarat. He acquired his degree as a Barrister from the University College London. After an attempt to start his career in India, Mahatma Gandhi went to South Africa only to work as a legal representative. He worked there for twenty one years of his life. He was assassinated by Nathuram Godse in the year 1948.
