Book: The Story Of Tea
Editorial Review

Today tea is consumed by about one-half of the world's population. Legend has it that tea originated in China about 5,000 years ago. The earliest reference to tea which scholars give credence to was found in 350 BC in the Era Ya, an ancient Chinese dictionary. The Story of Tea traces the history, myths and rituals of growing and drinking tea from the tea gardens of China to the roadside dhabas of India. This book deals not only with the planting and manufacture of tea, but its tasting and blending, its sale by auction and marketing in branded packaged form, with a special reference to Brooke Bond India, and more ... The Story of Tea makes for interesting reading.

E. Jaiwant Paul is a man of varied interests, having authored three books earlier: By My Sword and Shield' - Traditional Weapons of the Indian Warrior, Rani of Jhansi: Lakshmi Bai and Baji Rao - The Warrior Peshwa. A hard-core corporate executive, he initially worked for Hindustan Lever and was later a Director of Brooke Bond India, which was the largest packet tea company in the world. He lives in Delhi and serves as a Director of a few companies.
