An apocalyptic event catapults a teenage girl and a devout man into a war that threatens humanitys existence. His unwavering faith leads him on a terrifying path of destruction. Her brush with death leads her to discover her true destiny.
A team of Somali pirates unearths an ancient weapon, setting in motion a devious plan by a religious Dravidian cult. Nadar, the devout man, follows the high priests every command, putting his life at stake and testing his faith at every turn.
In Mumbai, a reckless young teen crashes her bike in a suicidal stunt-only to be saved miraculously by an unknown man on a mission of his own. Slash must come to terms with her true destiny and be the force to take on the great evil released upon mankind.
The stage is set for a battle of epic proportions as a demon from the past rises and threatens to wipe out the world. Armed with and ultimately divided by, only their belief, who will transcend the supernatural, the corrupt and the powerful to restore the delicate balance of nature? Svaha is a gripping thriller featuring characters from Indias mythological past, its political present and the uncertain future.

    Nice fast paced thriller

Picked up Svaha basis a friend's recommendation and must say - I wasn't disappointed.. It's a fast paced thriller imaginatively written. The author mixes various genres well and its makes for a great read. While the characters are quite interesting , I would think that the author has introduced far too many without adequately fleshing out some of them. Probably, we will see a sequel which does justice to all characters !
Overall, its an interesting addition to the mythological fiction genre ...

Its a short book of 250 pages and the sequel is set up well in the end. As far as I know there ar...

    Like reading an action movie

Fast-paced from the first chapter, Svaha is a riveting mythological epic that kept me engrossed till the very end. For a first time author, Pratik Kamat has delivered a world and storyline that will definitely prove to be fertile ground for a whole series.

The story charges through chapter to chapter and keeps you riveted with it's sheer pace. It's good thing that it's a fast read because once you pick it up, you can't stop till it's done. The characters are interesting and will probably be...

    Svaha's a quick n exciting read...

I thought I'd would like this book when I first heard of it, so my excitement when I received it was palpable. Anyways, I opened the book, with a million thoughts in my head, as is quite obvious when I opened any book. This one said mythology too!

The opening chapter talks of a Somali pirate ship, in search of an ancient weapon. The chapter moves on to a Dravidian cult, a religious person and a powerful high priest.

We are then thrown into the sea, in the form of the wild child, Slash who d...

    Good Indian Writing

Two parallel stories linked to each other... Good flow...Good twists...But few places I felt that the story ran too fast especially when revealing some twists. Overall a very good read. Go for it..

Gripping New Angle on Contemporary Mythology

Its not often you find authors to have the courage to rethink and reimagine mythology in the the contemporary context. The only other noted author to have done so was Amish with his Meluha Trilogy. A very engrossing tale of a real ordinary girl caught in the supernatural, it provides very interesting new perspectives on the role of gods and our beliefs about them...
A courageous take on an emerging new field of literary devices... Waiting for your next work

A thriller that starts in the fifth gear and stays there

Svaha is an awesomely written thriller with a female lead character. The action unfurls at a pace that is rarely seen in Indian novels. At times it feels that too much is happening, but multiple story lines converge in a way you'll never expect. X is definitely a character I want to see more of. This is brilliant writing from a first-time author.

    The next Meluha....

Another mythological thriller but far most exciting than what I have read in recent times. The best part is the pace at which the story keeps moving ahead with constant twists. Also, different storylines moving paralelly makes you wonder where they converge or will they ever? I dare say that this book has the potential to become the next Meluha series. But it's nowhere similiar to it in terms of plot or even story tellling. It's a fresh plot with an even intriguing protagonist.
