  • Description
The last one-and-a-half years in India have been defined by the anti-graft agitation led by Anna Hazare. His key lieutenant, Arvind Kejriwal, has played a central role in the movement. In 2012, as it became clear that the political establishment was not going to accede to the main demand of the movement - to pass the Lokpal Bill. Team Anna demanded the setting up of a Special Investigative Team to probe corrupt politicians. On 25 July 2012, Kejriwal, along with two of his colleagues and Anna Hazare, sat on a fast to press this demand. This book, which serves as a manifesto for the movement going forward, gives practical suggestions as to what the ordinary citizen, the opinion makers and the political establishment in India can do to provide a political alternative, or to achieve true swaraj (self-rule). The author's central point is that power must shift from New Delhi and the state capitals to the village councils and the town communities, so that people can be directly empowered to take decisions about their own lives. A must-read for anyone with a dream to leave behind a better India for the next generation.

    Swaraj by Mr. Aravind Kejriwal

There are many books written by different authors highlighting the problems faced by the country and its citizens. However, a book that caught my attention is “Swaraj” written by Arvind Kejriwal. The highlight of this book is the simplicity with which the problems faced by the country and its solutions have been presented. The language used in the book can be understood by any layman. No superlatives, confusing jargons or hard-to-understand words are used.

Another highlight of the book is t...

    must read

this book is worth reading because it gives a gist of all that is happening around us not only today but since ever.
this book is not more of a manifesto but likely a message asking us to think and act accordingly.
I always have been an admirer of Mr.Kejriwal and by giving away the royalty of this book to minimize the price of this book in order to maximize its accessibility is really a huge gesture on his part.
4 star - because its not my conventional taste to go through.

If you are not familiar with AAP's Swaraj model, or not sure why Arvind Kejriwal believes you should be...

It is pretty good in case the above is true.
It will explain the model of Swaraj as AAP sees it. Whether it is practical or will work is something up to the reader to reason out. Arvind supports everything that he claims in the book with sound reasoning and examples from his travels across the country.
It is not an expensive buy, because he isn't taking any royalty on this. Which I think is very noble.

    INDIA NEEDS SWARAJ

like Koran for Islam, Bible for Christianity and Bhagavad gita for Hindu believers, "SWARAJ" by Aravind Kejriwal is a holy book for reviewing 'Indian Political system'. He has clearly emphasised the need for self rule, thereby giving more powers to the gram panchayats. His views on the current political structure reflects through the examples of common man which is also the Aam admi's angst. Read it, empower yourself and act for the true need of Bharat. Jai hind

Given good view about the real change needed for our country.

I am very much thrilled when started reading this book. I couldn't stop until I finished It. He explained it in a very easy language, with clear picture.

He points out the loop holes in our present system, he then gives the solution to these problems with some successive real examples.

Please read it and suggest other to read.

    Regards,
    Ramakrishna.

    Not Worth it !!

Only things good about this book are flipkart has offered a great discount and Mr.Kejriwal is not taking royalty on this book. I am not a political person and have high regards for Mr. Kejriwal and so I bought this book hoping it to be a good read. But Noooooo!!! Its not.
The most remarkable feature of this book is that none of the incidents are to the point and detailed. Example :- There was a minister is Rajasthan who was involved in scam and laundered money worth crores. But who was the mi...

    Must go through once.

The suggested amendment of Swaraj in the book to my opinion would surely improve the condition of our country if all things go as swiftly as described. Also, this theory cannot be fully trusted unless it is tested as it is descried, there would be quarrels among the people without any doubt but it depends on how good they are dealt with.
Giving the power to the people itself is the most beneficiary thing and would lead to the betterment of the people, if the entire new suggested system is ma...

    Power to the people

Firstly, i am a student who regards Arvind Kejriwal as an honest man. Please read my review only if you agree to this view. The book seems very vague while reading a bunch of examples, but in actuality, it is how a nation should function. The whole idea of this book is to empower the gram sabhas, at the level of blocks, even below districts. This would mean a direct participation of the people in decision making and establishing SWARAJ. Overall i recommend this to any person who wants to know...
