  • Description
Here is a wonderful introduction to the residents of Firozsha Baag, an apartment complex in Bombay. We enter the daily routine and rhythm of their lives, and by the time we reach the final story we are as familiar with the people of Firozsha Baag as we are with our own neighbours. The crowded, throbbing life of India is brilliantly captured in this series of stories.

    Admirable

I recently started reading this book and was floored by the simplicity and "humane"ness of the book. It touches various aspects of human relations and does it quite well. Since all the short stories have similar characters you tend to see it as a novel than short stories. I recommend it to everybody who likes reading short stories which are, to be simplistic, "plain and simple"

It's collection of interrelated 11 short stories which depicts the parsis as minority community...their nostalgia, anguish and anxiety. These short stories are presenting the microcosm of the world that is Mumbai.

An insight to Parsi community of Bombay

Needless to say that Rohinton MIstry is a remarkable author.
It is compilation of stories written by author for weekly publishing in a Canadian newspaper during his early days of writing.
The book is about life and events of people living in a housing society named Firoz Shah Baag. It intricately describes and gives an insight to the Parsi community, their customs, festivals, their joys and sorrows etc. Stories are of simple people ,described in beautiful details such that it will trigger y...
