  • Description

Telling Tales is a collection of non-fiction writings by Amit Chaudhuri.

    Summary of the Book

In this book, Amit Chaudhuri collects some of his best non-fiction pieces from his entire writing career. He writes about his childhood, his fascination with playing “Cowboys and Indians” and his thoughts on the British class system. He also reveals his eyewitness account of the plane that was hijacked by Pakistanis and taken to Afghanistan. Displaying his innate ability to transform any topic into a page-turner, he writes about his perception of the works of V. S. Naipaul, his affection for “chanachur”, an Indian savoury, and his political engagements.

Critical Writings/Essays on Calcutta, Books, etc.

I have just finished reading "Telling Tales - Selected Writings." I loved it. I now look forward to reading his other book "Clearing A Space".

It is a book of fine essays written by Amit Chaudhuri, the author who wrote books such as A Strange and Sublime Address, Real Time, and Calcutta, Two Years in the City.

Telling Tales consolidates his critical writings that have been published in various publications/journals around the world.
