|11 Digit Scrollable Entry Line with 10 Digit Answer and 2 Digit Exponent, Can Retain Previous Entries, Memory Values, Individual Statistics Elements, 5 Memories, 20 English or Metric Conversions, 11 Physical Constants, Octal, Decimal and Hexadecimal Number Bases, Boolean Logic Operations, Complex Number Calculations, Two-variable Statistics with Regression|
I found this TI-36X II calculator to have some advantageous features for engineering students. In statistics it supports 1-variable regression, and 2-variable regression models include linear, natural log, exponent and power. Up to 42 sample points or pairs were possible.
For complex numbers the supported functions include conjugate, real/imaginary component and absolute value. It also includes base (decimal, hexadecimal and octal) calculations with logic operations (AND, OR, XOR, NOT and 2’s complement). Vector operations included magnitude, angle, x-component and y-component.
The calculator is friendly which is due easy to use stuff like the 2-line display, angle unit(degrees, radians and grads), display mode(scientific, engineering, floating, etc), 10 unit conversion pairs, 16 physical constants, fraction mode display and conversion (pure/mixed), 5 memory registers and 2 registers for expressions. It has only one second function, so keys are uncluttered. The unit allows users to scroll though previous entries! Menus are easy to understand, and nothing gets buried in multiple levels.
The calculator is fast in performing calculations, and light, with good looks.
One flaw is that typing too fast may occasionally lose key strokes.

I was fascinated by the idea of TEXAS entering India, and was expecting them to come up with flying colours.. I am terribly disappointed with the kind of stuff they have come out, especially with this model.
Firstly... the design is certainly a let down, I had a wonderful experience seeing TIs earlier models, that I had asked my uncle to bring for me from US. A plastic body with a see through feature, is a bloke to make a move into market.
Secondly, in terms of features, it doesn't support basic engineering functions like differentiation and integration capabilities are also limited only upto trignometric functions.
Very hard to remember syntaxes, For eg, how on earth would I imagine to type a number and then use Permutation button, followed by another number with nPr written in between...
A product not worth its price, even a CASIO fx-100 MS with many more features than it is less priced...
I hope TI fixes these issues as soon as possible.
I had a chance to explore this instrument a few days back. Its really amazing and much helpful to students particularly above Middle School Level. The instrument is designed in such a way that it is easy to handle and use any functions as much easily. Its a great stuff which each student deals with scientific calculations should have. The user interface and speed are really good. I am much more interested while dealing with complex numbers, boolean logics, regressions to mention a few.
Every student should have this instrument as a good supporting tool to speed-up their learning process.
Good instrument and worthy stuff to have in our learning kit!
I bought this calculator to my brother as a gift, as he have joined his Engineering this year. The features in this are really very useful for an Engineering student..... Quality wise, US products always have the best in class, A RELIABLE PRODUCT
Its Light weight and has all functions in it which an engineering student would need.. the keypad is quite spacious to ensure you press the button which you are intended to!!! I recomond it...Guys, Just go for it!!
