This collection of three books is all about the great adventures of four children and a parrot in locations spanning from England to Greece to the Middle East!
Summary Of The Book
This box-set, very aptly called The Adventure Series, consists of three immensely loved, thrilling, and bestselling titles by Enid Blyton. These are The Island of Adventure, The Castle of Adventure, and The Valley of Adventure. The three books primarily features four children who are markedly different from one another as the main characters and a parrot.
The children are Jack, Dinah, Philip, and Lucy-Ann. The parrot is Jack’s pet and his name is Kiki. They have a knack of stumbling upon irregular happenings and solving mysteries. While they do not need much adult help in unfolding puzzles, the parrot comes to their rescue more often than not.
The Castle of Adventure is centered around a ruined castle in Scotland. The children promise their aunt that they will go to the castle for bird-spotting but usual to their demeanour, they start looking for a way inside the castle and so the adventure kickstarts.
In The Island of Adventure, the children borrow a boat and go to the Isle of Gloom. The journey under the sea and into the copper mines is certainly eerie, but there is a lot the children have to encounter before they uncover many truths, including what goes on in the copper mines and who Bill Smugs really is.
In The Valley of Adventure, the children find themselves in a wrong place and are transported to a magnificent but deserted valley. However, this book is not all about mountains and waterfalls. It involves dreary caves and tunnels, a prisoner, and to top it all- a treasure hunt!
These books have taught many to enjoy reading and while these stories were first published around the 1950s, they have successfully retained their charm and popularity over the decades. The experience of reading these books is enhanced, for children and adults alike, by the wonderful supporting illustrations. In 1996, all of these novels were adapted into television versions.
