The Great Gatsby (Paperback) Price: Rs.90

I believe that on the first night I went to Gatsby’s house I was one of the few guests who had actually been invited. People were not invited - they went there’.

Considered one of the all-time great American works of fiction, Fitzgerald’s glorious yet ultimately tragic social satire on the Jazz Age encapsulates the exuberance, energy and decadence of an era.

After the war, the mysterious Jay Gatsby, a self-made millionaire pursues wealth, riches and the lady he lost to another man with stoic determination. He buys a mansion across from her house and throws lavish parties to try and entice her. When Gatsby finally does reunite with Daisy Buchanan, tragic events are set in motion.

Told through the eyes of his detached and omnipresent neighbour and friend, Nick Carraway, Fitzgerald’s succinct and powerful prose hints at the destruction and tragedy that awaits.

A Good introduction to Fitzgerald

If you hav a little more money buy it with a different cover/publishing house coz this one is a bit shabby and for the ones unemployed like me
Book is, though thin, but after 30 pages I felt like I had consumed a wholesome meal. It is wisely and promptly located in the annals of greatest 20th century American Literature.
And ofcourse the Flipkart service was its usual, delivered within 2 days, punctual.
Thank you FK!

Touches our heart...

It is a story of unfulfilled love, what a man can do to win back his love and the reality of rich people. Gatsby is romantic but mysterious figure who throws out huge parties. He is a symbol of man's hope and also an example that proves that money can't buy everything and leads himself to tragic death....

Must read novels like these TWICE at least..

U might have heard abt "The Great Gatsby" everywhere, listed on top novels of all time and every website , considered as America's greatest work of literature , etc .

HOW TO APPROACH THIS BOOK:
Give it a read once , then after the first read watch some lectures on youtube about this book(I watched the Yale university lecture) , there are many professors discussing about this book. After hearing lecture please give it a second read . U'd love it more.

Don't Buy Harper Collins Edition. Go for Cambridge or Oxford or Penguin India Edition

Don't buy Harper Collins Edition of 'The Great Gatsby'. It's not worth the money. The paper quality of this edition is very low. Buy Cambridge or Oxford or Penguin India Edition.

Both Cambridge and Oxford Editions are available on Flipkart itself at the time of writing this review.

Likeable from the first line.

I,having particular interest in 20th century modernist literature, early 20th century to be precise, found the book a great read. The characters in the novel are well structured which reveal the mental condition of Americans after the war. The book is extremely alluring and you cannot but read it at once.
I suggest this novel and also the other 3 novels by Fitzgerald.
