    Summary Of The Book

The Great Gatsby Film Tie-In Edition is a novel set in 1922 in Long Island and New York City. The narrator, Nick Carraway, lives in West Egg. His cousin, Daisy Buchanan, also lives in the same locality with her husband, Tom. Another character named Myrtle Wilson is married, but is having an affair with Tom. Jay Gatsby, the protagonist, resides in the same neighbourhood. He is portrayed as a mysterious young millionaire who organizes extravagant parties. The book traces how the narrator becomes aware of the deep love that Jay has for Daisy. He also learns that the two of them were in a relationship before Gatsby went off to fight in the war.

Jay now asks Nick to convince his cousin to leave her cheating husband. Tom finds out, and forces Daisy to go with him to New York, where they meet Gatsby. The book details the events that take place during the confrontation and what fate has in store for Jay and Daisy. The Great Gatsby Film Tie-In Edition is filled with tales of murder, mystery, betrayal, and heartbreak. The book is set during the Jazz age.

This novel has been adapted into films many times. The latest one, released in 2013, stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire. The Great Gatsby has been adapted into TV dramas, theatre shows, radio programmes, opera performances, and computer games. It is listed as one of the greatest works of American literature, and is considered a literary classic. The book has sold millions of copies since it was first published in 1925.

    About F. Scott Fitzgerald

Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald, born in 1896, was an American author and poet. His novels include Tender Is The Night, This Side Of Paradise, and The Beautiful And Damned. His unfinished novel, The Love Of The Last Tycoon, was published after his death. He also wrote short stories, some of which are The Pat Hobby Stories, Bernice Bobs Her Hair And Other Stories, All The Sad Young Men, and Tales Of The Jazz Age.

Fitzgerald studied at Princeton University, and then joined the US Army. He later started working in Hollywood. The Great Gatsby gained popularity after the author’s death, who died thinking that his work was a failure. Fitzgerald is said to be one of the best American writers of the 20th century. He passed away in 1940 in Los Angeles, at the age of 44. In 2009, he was inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame.

    Author Info
    • Among the 'Lost Generation' of writers that came of age during the Roaring Twenties, the work of F. Scott Fitzgerald (1896–1940) epitomized 'The Jazz Age': a period of declining traditional values, prohibition and speakeasies, and great artistic leaps. Fitzgerald’s first novel, This Side of Paradise, was a financial success, but subsequent ones, including his masterpiece, The Great Gatsby, sold poorly. In need of money, he turned to writing commercial short stories and Hollywood scripts, while his lifelong alcoholism destroyed his health and led to an early death. The 1945 reissue of The Great Gatsby spurred a wide resurgence of interest, and Fitzgerald is now considered one of the greatest American writers of the twentieth century.

    Nothing interesting

The story is fragmented, i'm not sure if this was an unabridged version. The narration is weak, failed to connect with any of the characters. This book didn't work for me. :(
