Excellent book (it is a board book tho it says hardcover on flipkart)
I've read this story to students (junior school age) numerous times, kids performed it as poetry theatre too. Kids and I loved it. It is a story you can read over and over again. Great illustrations and rhyming text about a clever mouse and the "there's no such thing as a Gruffal...oh!"

A Gruffalo, why don't you know?
We LOVE books at our house ...and we really LOVE this one! The Gruffalo kept us entertained on a 12 hour car trip and back. Now that's money well spent.

What a nice book it is...
The story is good...a clever mouse using his wiseness to get through all deadly hurdles....very good msg to children that only physical power is not sufficient to live safely and peacefully...one also need to have sharp wit, wisdom and brain...also one shall know how to use it correctly at correct time...
Binding is excellent...it is a board book....printing, finishing are excellent...

An instant hit with our kid
This was an instant hit with our 5year old. Kids who have read the classic "Where the wild things are" by Maurice Sendak, will immediately identify with this terrible and wild thing, the Gruffalo. Beautifully illustrated with a witty story, I recommend this book to every child's library. As some one else pointed out, this hardcover version is a proper sturdy board book.

A clever story, relevant for 2 year olds & older kids
The gruffalo is a clever little story book with bright & cheerful illustrations.
The cleverness of it would probably make it appropriate for an older child, like a 3 year old or maybe older.
However, I found that younger kids who do like being read to, would enjoy it too. The rhyming text and the repetitive use of the monster name "Gruffalo" is quite entertaining for them. I also liked the touch of detail in the background with other little creatures & birds hanging around in the woods, which...

Intelligent Book
This is my son's most favorite book. he loves the way the mouse dodges every other animal. Its a smartly written book with really nice illustration.

Charming book for monster lovers
My son aged 3 loves to read monster and other animal stories. This books is real cute. It's written in very simple english and the illustrations are colorful and lovely. My son absolutely loved this one. This is not a scary story, but is a simple story that works as a bedtime story.
