Gandalf the Grey picks a most curious burglar for a group of dwarves hell-bent on stealing back their treasure from a most nefarious dragon in J. R. R. Tolkien’s timeless fantasy epic, The Hobbit!
Summary of the Book
Bilbo Baggins was very satisfied with his life, thank you very much. He had breakfast to look forward to each day, followed by second breakfast, lunch, high tea, luncheon and dinner. He enjoyed his time in the sun, with a pipe to smoke pipeweed with. He was a hobbit, and that, if nothing else, signified how much he enjoyed all the comforts of life. But one day, a Wizard appears at his door, with a scheme unlike anything Bilbo had heard before. However, this was no ordinary Wizard. He was Gandalf the Grey, THE Gandalf the Grey, magnificent showman known for his fireworks and his tendency to whisk young Hobbits away with the promise of adventure. Before Bilbo knew it, he was playing host to thirteen rather superstitious dwarves who needed a fourteenth member on their team. The job required someone who was good at moving unnoticed, and it helped if they were small. To Bilbo’s dismay, Gandalf nominates him for the job. And only then does Bilbo discover what the quest is all about. The dwarves seek to retrieve their long forgotten gold, under the Lonely Mountain. It seemed a simple job, quite simple. But then, the dwarves told him about Smaug, a most malevolent and terrible dragon.
