  • Description

The Pink Smoke is the story of Siddhant Roy and his experiences as he tries to adapt to the world of love, lust, addictions and friendship. Throughout the book, he is being guided by Saahil and Ashish who are a contrast of each other.

    Summary of the Book

The novel is set in the backdrop of Bangalore and traces the journey of the young Siddhant Roy. It isn’t easy for Siddhant as he tries to adjust to a new world of love, lust and addictions. Still, he is managing with the help of two people: Saahil, the philosopher who is always high on some substance, and Ashish, a balanced advisor. He has difficulty in choosing between ambition and desires. Like this is not enough, he is taken completely off track because of his love for Nikita that makes him experiment with various social norms. As time goes, he realizes that his world is slowly crumbling and reaching an all-time low. He isn’t sure if he will be able to survive through college, and it is highly possible that he could end up on the streets of Bangalore, picking up the pieces of his broken soul. All the emotions that are experienced in this book are a lot like love, but not necessarily healthy.

    Real life experience

Its d first and d only novel I've read in my entire life and i would say this book is just brilliant. The fact that i got hooked on to it and i just couldn't let go of it until i finished it. For the only reason that it was just like a description of my own life to a great extent in some one else' s words. The nostalgic feeling of spending the best days of our life in College and some great friends we make during college days and the kind of impression they leave and the impact it makes in ou...

Advance Copy Review for The Pink Smoke! A True Entertainer.

Going by the book jacket, there is a vibe that told me that the book was meant for smokers. But going through the pages, it becomes evident that a story has been presented earnestly. And I enjoyed reading this, for a change- for many reasons- the youthfulness demonstrated in the story, it's nostalgic angle and the descriptions of Bangalore city.

A couple of chapters are quite sensual, and some are very morbid too, such as the lead character's attempts to destroy himself. But there is a mess...

    Really Intriguing & Addictive

My first ever non-academic book and my first ever book not read under compulsion had the good fortune to have been written by you. Hence, I may be a novice at sharing ideas and views on how well books are written. But what I could honestly share is that my first has got me hooked and I believe the credit goes to your excellent writing. And as I embark on my journey I hope to encounter more of your books. Thank you and congratulations!

Unputdownable, Intriguing & Fast Paced - Must Read.

"The Pink Smoke" happens to be one of my first attempts at reading Indian Fiction. And it has managed to change a long-nurtured perspective about stories told in books. I could use words like 'motivational', 'inspiring' and 'ambitious' but they wouldn't completely describe the story that has been told.

It is based on an individual's perspective through Engineering college- It does not talk about over-achievement, though. The book is based on the life of a confused engineering student, enroll...

A Brave Experiment, and it worked!

I'm not much of a reader for books written in the subcontinent- and I really haven't trusted an Indian Male Bridget Jones attempt till date. But looking at the controversy around this novel i decided to pick it up- and i do have a few observations.

    1. It's an honest account, and very nostalgic in its outset. The author has provided a short-but-accurate description of the way I had looked at "namma bengaluru" in that time. Forum Mall, Jayanagar- Cheers to that...!

    2. My first instinct was to...

    Wicked Awesome Book!!

This was a pretty great book. Finishing this book and found myself admiring Siddhant’s character.
This story could be read as a stand alone. I never would have guessed that a book would intrigue me, but it has.
It has satisfying conclusion and worth reading for young adults.

Bangalore & Indian youth at it's best

'the pink smoke' belongs to a rare category of books and has managed to amplify my love for indian fiction even more than i already possessed. A chance encounter of picking it up at sapna bookstore made me thank my stars, because i finally found a good way to spend my weekend. i was born and brought up in bangalore so it means a lot to me when people talk about the city with such loving words. i found myself strangely attracted to this nikita person. even though she is the female lead/anti- l...

    Awesome....

Good illustration of an autobiography. Very realistic and speaks about normally what every teenager goes through once they are in their graduation. Its not about how bad they can get, its about how effectively they come out of it, realizing the true essence of life and become successful in life. Awesome Work Shom.. Proud to have you in my team ..
