I had the original Weinstein Bluray(imported from the UK) but lost it somewhere so when I saw this deal on Flipkart I jumped at the offer, but sad to say the experience was shocking at the very least..
First of all..inept editing done to make the film "censor board" friendly, completely kills the experience
Ironically the Blu-ray starts off with "advice- that pirated blu-rays are often shot using handycams in movie theatres and therefore not very good audio and video" - all very good until the movie starts-
to begin with the first few scenes are extremely shaky -- exactly like they were shot with a handycam!!
the audio was even worse.. there was a continuous noise (hiss) about 40db below the regular soundtrack, which was glaring during the softer parts of the movie. (pretty much like the vhs tapes we used to borrow from video libraries).
then during some scenes, there were prominent green lines vertically across the screen; apart from film scratch marks randomly appearing
the dark scenes were completely un-watchable
Some smart-ass Eagle technician also randomly decided to change the original aspect ratio from 1.85:1 to 16:9
I'll never buy an Eagle product in future.. and would advise all
FlipKart shoppers to think twice before putting down the cash for a BD from Eagle Home entertainment
P.S. On a side note Flipkart please mention or display the name of the disc manufacturer/ production house on all Movies on any kind of Optical media
This is One of the best movies i hav seen after a long time
when it was issued as a book, I'd like to buy the book, but I saw the movie. It was great and my first recreation for a long time. Although 'THE READER' was tragedy, it was lingering a while in my heart.
