'I guess it started the night our dad blew up the British museum . . . '
Carter and Sadie Kane's dad is a brilliant Egyptologist with a secret plan that goes horribly wrong. An explosion shatters the ancient Rosetta stone and unleashes Set, the evil god of chaos . . .
Set imprisons Dr Kane in a golden coffin and Carter and Sadie must run for their lives. To save their dad, they embark on a terrifying quest from Cairo to Paris to the American South-west and discover the truth about their family's connection to the House of Life: an Egyptian temple of magic that has existed for thousands of years.
The pharaohs of ancient Egypt are far from dead and buried. And so, unfortunately, are their gods . . .

As usual, the book has a fast paced story which is very typical of Rick Riordan. However, the joy which you get reading Percy Jackson series, is a bit missing. Though the idea and concept of Egyptian gods is good and the description of each god is a bit fun to read. also, the characters are well imagined and formed. Overall, it is a good book which lacks a bit of the "full potential" of Rick Riordan.
I picked this book because it is written by Rick Riordan. I opened it and I enjoyed every single page of it. Seriously, take it from me- Rick Riordan is a mythology master :) From Greek mythology to Egyptian mythology, this guy sure knows how to get us around mythology. The story revolves around our two Kane heroes, Sadie and Carter. Older of the two, Carter stayed with his father and travelled around museums, gaining ample Egyptian Knowledge. Sadie stayed with her grandparents on the bank of the river Thames. She is so not into learning, but hey, when you have dangerous quests to complete, it doesn't hurt to learn! The Gods are unleashed, and Chaos is rising . Soon, it will overcome Ma'at ( order). The giant serpent Apophis ( god of chaos ) will swallow the sun ( the weak God Ra) and only Sadie and Carter can save the world.
With their adventures in three volumes, ou can kick back and enjoy...
