The Sixth Man (Paperback) Price: Rs.460

The Sixth Man by David Baldacci tells the tale of an alleged serial killer named Edgar Roy who is locked away in a high security unit, and the attempts of two investigators, who seek to discover the truth about Roy.

Summary Of The Book

When investigators Michelle Maxwell and Sean King are called in to probe into the unknown details of a certain case, they have no idea that they might be in for one of the toughest cases they have ever dealt with.

The story in The Sixth Man pits Sean and Michelle against powerful security agents and dangerous situations, while they try and dig into the past of an almost convicted alleged serial killer.

Edgar Roy has been accused of murder on numerous occasions and has been locked away in a well-guarded place called Cutter’s Rock. Ted Bergin, Roy’s lawyer, calls the two investigators to look into the case. However, even before they can start their investigations, they find Bergin murdered on the highway and things take an unprecedented turn with this event.

The two must now seek to unearth the unknown truths about Roy and his modus operandi. They must ask questions that not many people would like to ask regarding Bergin’s murder and Roy’s history. As they seek to make such discoveries, Sean and Michelle almost find themselves forced to part ways for good.

The novel is a gripping one that succeeds in holding the attention of its readers, thanks to Baldacci’s pacy writing.

Not the usual high standards

The book is disappointing to me only because David Baldacci sets very high standards in his previous books.

It has the typical plot which thickens around the 2 lead charecters and they come out winning(that ofcourse I expected and knew would happen), what disappoints though is that the thickening of the plot is way too overdone.

Which doesnt mean I wont read the next book of this series, but I sure hope that DB does better then this book.

Good, but Baldacci can do far better.

People having no previous experience of Baldacci's novels will find this work an exciting one and will undoubtedly be eager for more of his books,
but for people who have read his works like Absolute Power,Simple Genius,The Collectors, etc., this will be a disappointment of sorts.
This novel lacks the edginess associated with Baldacci. The style of writing is good enough, but the plot gets predictable halfway through the book.

A flat Hollywood Movie

It fails to qualify the very basic of being a thriller. There's ZERO element of Surprise in this book and it really made me wonder how it got the BestSeller tag attached to it. The language used is lucid and very colloquial to that of America. The plot itself is full of flaws and vague and some time. Its more like an average or rather below average Hollywood thriller with 4.0 as IMDB Rating.

A DON'T BUY from my end.

i shud say that this book, the plot, the representation does not leave a good impression on even an avid fan of baldacci.
it is not good by any standards rather an average book which one can easily give a pass for other better ones.
as i said, its not worth it.
