Description

The Skull Rosary is a graphic novel retelling some of the stories of Shiva in the eons before civilization began.

Summary of the Book

Before civilization, Shiva set out to collect five heads to make his rosary. In this book, readers are introduced to a saga in Rudra's life unlike any before or after. These five stories bring alive the lord of death and the afterlife. A daughter's life is forfeit to the fire of jealousy in The King With A Goat's Head. Two powerful gods clash in a battle that will change the world in Prahlad's Dream. A son's desire for his mother's body is unveiled in The Other Woman. The Blind Spot lays bare a blind Asura with a penchant for revenge. And in the finale, a father lusts after his daughter and civilization itself stands broken, letting fly Brahma's Fifth Head.

awsm again

Even though i was a bit miffed at the absence of colors, the artwork and inking more than made up for it.
Basically all the 5 stories in the Skull Rosary are a part of our childhood, memories from stories heard or watched on television or maybe even read in other books, but its specialty is the amount of research put behind every story and the level of detail put in it. For example we didn’t know what happened after the god Narsimha killed Hiranyakashyap. This book gives us a chance to reli...

One of the best out there in Indian graphic novel space..

This is one of the most well researched, written and inked graphic novel that has come out of the maturing indian graphic novel market. The authors have done a tremendous job in terms of providing both a well researched and written story as well as artwork. Absolutely loved the cover page as well as the intro pages. There are 5 separate stories which are based on a specific emotion which is even experienced by gods. I would definitely recommend this book to everyone who is interested in graphi...

Awesome

This book is highly recommended, for its completeness! The stories, the artwork, the inking and use of pencils! Colors may not have done justice to this artwork, as the ink art is most suitable to the stories! The emotions are clearly visible and you can feel the story as well as emotions of characters!
Author Shweta has done good research and you will not be disappointed by the details in stories. You may or may not have heard of these stories. This book contains 5 different stories around o...

A collection of stories

The book has five stories, each dealing with the common heard folklore around the nation. But each stories are beautifully drawn in classic black and white. The title Skull Rosary is apt. Its a good read and wonderful take on mythology and presenting the not so divine and not so perfect nature of good. We find out how Ramayan came up. Overall a good package.

Fantabulous Story and mesmerising artwork

The book is just awesome. Its factual story and dynamic artwork make it even more interesting. The creativity shown by Shweta Taneja ji to bring out the story in a more gripping way is just innovative. The presentation of story is simple yet marvellous. The flashback mode used in presentation of story makes it a page turner. It is a must read book for all mytho lovers and a special treat for non-mythos. The noir artwork has done wonder and is like icing on cake. The artists have done an outsta...

Dark insight to Lord Shiva

Gripping stories with detailed and enchanting illustrations make this book, one must have for your mytho collection. Story telling is superb with stories you haven't heard before, so automatically you crave to turn page after page. Personal favorite is "The other woman". Its one of the book Holy Cow team has delivered complete in one go, so one of the pros as well as cons of this book is, "it finishes with it". Highly recommended to graphic novel readers.

Good read not for kids

Certainly a good read. References some interesting stories from past complex mythologies. Story segments are succinct but don't leave holes in the narrative. Illustrations are overbearing and not easy to process in many cases. They could certainly do well to Nintendo-wiify the graphics a bit. Some of the story bits are gory and sexually provocative. Might not be good for kids.
