TCS in the eye of Ramadorai

Book speaks about TCS in the eye of Ramadorai right from it's early years. Starts interestingly with his boyhood in his village, about his family and his graduation etc. Also the kind of difficulties TCS faced in the period of 'license raj' was well narrated. It makes us to feel how cumbersome the policies has been laid that importing a mainframe computer to India would fetch nearly 2 years from the order, despite paying twice the cost of the computer as tax, custom duties, etc., Hardship faced by TCS on several occasions due to govt policies and the way it has limited TCS's and India's abi... It makes us to feel how cumbersome the policies has been laid that importing a mainframe computer to India would fetch nearly 2 years from the order, despite paying twice the cost of the computer as tax, custom duties, etc., Hardship faced by TCS on several occasions due to govt policies and the way it has limited TCS's and India's ability to march ahead in tandem to other developed/developing countries is also expressed elegantly. The mentioning of patriotism shown by TATAs are sprinkled almost everywhere as the reverence with his boss Kohli was shown. Some of the best practices inculcated by TCS was boasted. This books made me to feel that; when some people over here (India) talks about emigrate to another country seeing the kind of difficulties they're facing from the govt. policies, bureaucracies, hurdles, etc., Tatas learnt to digest and deal with such things and still able to move ahead in the interest of the nation is really inspiring and earned my respect.

Did not expect this from Mr Ramadorai

I have just started the book, but a very minor factual error makes me wonder if I should proceed with the book further and whether this book has been ghostwritten for S Ramadorai.

On page 19, 3rd para of chapter 1 it is stated that IISc Bangalore was conceived and established by J.R.D Tata. This would mean that J.R.D Tata established it when he was 5 years old, as IISc was established in 1909 and J.R.D was born in 1904.

Please Mr. Ramadorai, I certainly had high expectation from this book and am very much disappointed by such an insignificant factual error.

The TCS Story....And Beyond

A beautifully written book by one of the pioneers of software services revolution in India. The book gives an insight of what it took TCS to become what it is today. It is a must read for not only all software professionals but also for those who want to think big and make it happen.

TCS introduces technology in India with loads of challenges

First of all, an excellent services from Flipkart to deliver this book absolutely on time.
This book is a nice combination of events, Challenges that TCS had ,from earlier days even when Indian System didn't consider computer as 'Machines', but it covers a life experiences from an eye of an ambitious Ramadorai who made a $6 bln enterprise.
