Theodore Boone (English) (Paperback) Price: Rs.199

This book is about a 13 year old boy, who wants to be a trial lawyer, knows much about a sensational murder trial and knowing the danger of being involved he strives for justice.

Summary Of The Book

In the small city of Strattenburg, there are many lawyers, and though he's only thirteen years old, Theo Boone thinks he's one of them. Theo knows every judge, policeman, court clerk - and a lot about the law.

His parents are both lawyers and he has learnt a lot about the American judicial system and law. At school other students come to him for advice when they, or someone they know, are in trouble.

It’s the Duffy murder case and some legal luminaries are expected to participate. Theodore is keen on watching it, as is the rest of Strattenburg. The Boone family volunteers regularly at a neighboring community centre where Theodore meets a boy whose cousin may know something that could impact the Duffy trial’s outcome.

This cousin is likely to get deported if he steps forward with the incriminating evidence. Then he finds himself in a situation where he does not have the answer and he deal with his moral dilemma. It's here that Theo, torn between dobbing in an illegal immigrant and keeping his lips zipped, takes action.

The children's fiction Half the Man, Twice the Lawyer, was written by John Grisham and published in the year 2010.In this book writer had explained the working of the court and the legal intricacies of American judicial system. This fiction based book stood distinctively from the series of other books on the same character of Theodore.

The book was well received by teenage audiences who aspire to be a lawyer and also adults who love a light read related to law.

Good read

Bought this from Sapna Bookhouse, Bangalore. By John Grisham's standards, much shorter at less than 300 pages. But very nicely written and leaves you with a warm feeling.

He has very nicely articulated lot of things through children's eyes. Specifically, there are some sections where a boy explains his grandfather's farm -- it is so good that you can actually visualize it.

It's Grisham style one more time

This is another addition to the books of Grisham in Theodore Boone list. This starts very innocently and the complications show up as the story unfolds. Really interesting one to read. Those who are fans of Grisham you won't get disappointed. Others will enjoy this book. This doesn't have jargon of litigation.

Law is just a part of everyday life for thirteen year old kid lawyer Theodore Boone. From mysterious murders to terrifying torture, Theo has seen it all. And now he's back, in a brand new adventure!

The usually peaceful town of Strattenburg has a new issue to deal with. A new project called the Red Creek Bypass is being initiated by some money-rich politicians to smoothen flow of traffic in a particular area, which many people, including Theo and his family think is absolutely unnecessary. The project is going to affect millions, including Theo's friend Hardie Quinn, whose family house will be bulldozed along with several other buildings, businesses, schools and grounds. And this time, there doesn't seem to be much Theo can do.
He uses every opportunity he gets to find out more about this plan, wherever and whenever possible, be it on a boy scouts camp or in his parents' office.
But Theo discovers, in a very shocking and unpleasant incident, a dark secret about the people behind the project, something that he has no right to be knowing. His friend and confidant, Uncle Ike as well as his parents, both highly respected and very experienced lawyers, warn Theo not to get entangled in these problematic situations. But Theo, being who he is, cannot stay away from a controversy, especially where serious law and debating is involved.
Along with his friends, April, Hardie, Woody and Chase and his ever so loyal mutt, Judge, Theodore Boone sets off on a mission to uncover all the secrets of this shady, law-breaking business and save Strattenburg and its people from despair and devastation. But can he do it, without breaking the law himself?

Bestselling author, John Grisham, in a fictional, yet serious, legal thriller delivers solid amounts of suspense and drama, that blend perfectly to form the best Theodore Boone book yet. The characters, especially Judge the dog and Hardie Quinn, play pivotal roles in the story as well, and as a result some parts are extremely emotional and heart wrenching and some parts are absolutely serious and no-nonsense.
But by holding back the suspense till the very end and creating an atmosphere of mystery and secrecy, Grisham does a wonderful job in keeping the reader hooked on with bated breathe throughout and eager for more at the end. The plot of the story is a little complicated, yet, everything falls into place at the end, which is good.

This is one of the best reads of the year, and I strongly recommend it for people of all ages, whether or not they are interested or know much about the law, for this book, and the rest of the Theodore Boone series, are stories, legal in theme, but have everything explained very well for easy comprehension by the reader. This is one fast-paced, emotional yet dramatic thriller that will have you at the edge of the seat, and will, by the end leave you gasping for breather when you're done

Kudos to John Grisham for this masterpiece, the fourth in the series, Theodore Boone: The Activist!
