Theodore Boone (Paperback) Price: Rs.238

This book is about a 13 year old boy, who wants to be a trial lawyer, knows much about a sensational murder trial and knowing the danger of being involved he strives for justice.

Summary Of The Book

In the small city of Strattenburg, there are many lawyers, and though he's only thirteen years old, Theo Boone thinks he's one of them. Theo knows every judge, policeman, court clerk - and a lot about the law.

His parents are both lawyers and he has learnt a lot about the American judicial system and law. At school other students come to him for advice when they, or someone they know, are in trouble.

It’s the Duffy murder case and some legal luminaries are expected to participate. Theodore is keen on watching it, as is the rest of Strattenburg. The Boone family volunteers regularly at a neighboring community centre where Theodore meets a boy whose cousin may know something that could impact the Duffy trial’s outcome.

This cousin is likely to get deported if he steps forward with the incriminating evidence. Then he finds himself in a situation where he does not have the answer and he deal with his moral dilemma. It's here that Theo, torn between dobbing in an illegal immigrant and keeping his lips zipped, takes action.

The children's fiction Half the Man, Twice the Lawyer, was written by John Grisham and published in the year 2010.In this book writer had explained the working of the court and the legal intricacies of American judicial system. This fiction based book stood distinctively from the series of other books on the same character of Theodore.

The book was well received by teenage audiences who aspire to be a lawyer and also adults who love a light read related to law.

Big let-down

I had pre-ordered this book being a Grisham fan. After reading it I'm wondering if I should re-think my loyalties. It is a thoroughly disappointing book. The end is highly anti-climatic. The story had enough potential given the right build up but Grisham has made a mess of it. You also do not feel any connection with the main protagonist. Seems more like a precocious kid whom you would hate on sight. Then there is a nasty kind of a guy who is introduced and left undeveloped. All in all, there are lots of loose ends. Avoid it.

Typical John Grisham Awesomeness

I just finished reading this book and although there is nothing new and captivating in this book as other Grisham's novels, surely it's worth a read if you are a fan and even if you're not, the writing style is simple with no magical twists and turns, everything is believable and simple enough to consume by some average mind like me. and as always he left something left off in the end, a short novel and a light read.

John Grisham's poor work

Just finished reading this "Theodore Boone". A very less than ordinary work by Grisham compared to rest of his works till the date. There is no thrill, no suspense to make you hold your breath. In fact I gave a very loud sigh of relief when I finished the book. Since I purchased it, it was mandatory for me to read completely. THe so called novel seems to have been written for the school going children. Certainly not worth a buy.

Kid lawyer for kids

The book is average. not that you are going to be astonished by this book. a very normal story. Yes you are involved in the story of theo and his interesting life, but the story is not that much amazing. i'll rate it 3/5 if you ask me.

This obviously will not be included in my favourites.

Being a die har fan of JG, had high expctations of this novel. An easy read that lasted less than couple of hours turned out to be a kid's stuff. Alas, its missing all the thrill so integral to author's other works!
