What is the estimated delivery time?
Estimated delivery time depends on the following factors:
It is possible that the Seller or our courier partners observe a holiday between the day you placed your order and the date of delivery, which is based on the timelines shown on the product page. In this case, we add a day to the estimated date. Some courier partners and Sellers do not work on Sundays and this is factored in to the delivery dates.
For items listed as "In Stock", Sellers will mention the delivery time based on your location pincode (usually 2-3 business days, 4-5 business days or 4-6 business days in areas where standard courier service is available). For other areas, orders will be sent by Registered Post through the Indian Postal Service which may take 1-2 weeks depending on the location.
The Seller might not have the item in stock but can procure it when an order is placed. The delivery time will depend on the estimated procurement time and the estimated shipping time to your location.
'Preorder' or 'Forthcoming'
Such items are expected to be released soon and can be pre-booked for you. The item will be shipped to you on the day of it's official release launch and will reach you in 2 to 6 business days. The Preorder duration varies from item to item. Once known, release time and date is mentioned. (Eg. 5th May, August 3rd week)
'Out of Stock'
Currently, the item is not available for sale. Use the 'Notify Me' feature to know once it is available for purchase.
Sometimes, items have to be sourced by Sellers from outside India. These items are mentioned as 'Imported' on the product page and can take at least 10 days or more to be delivered to you.
'Back In Stock Soon'
The item is popular and is sold out. You can however 'book' an order for the product and it will be shipped according to the timelines mentioned by the Seller.
The product is currently out of stock and is not available for purchase. The product could to be in stock soon. Use the 'Notify Me' feature to know when it is available for purchase.
This product is no longer available because it is obsolete and/or its production has been discontinued.
'Out of Print'
This product is not available because it is no longer published and has been permanently discontinued.
You have probably noticed varying estimated delivery times for Sellers of the product you are interested in. Delivery times are influenced by product availability, geographic location of the Seller, your shipping destination and the courier partner's time-to-deliver to your location.
Please enter your default pin code on the product page (you don't have to enter it every single time) to know more accurate delivery times on the product page itself.

Theory Of Machines is meant to cover the syllabus for courses over two semesters, namely Kinematics of Machinery and Dynamics of Machinery.
Summary Of The Book
Theory Of Machines is a book for the portions of the two-semester course, covering both Kinematics and Dynamics of Machinery. It is laden with problems and solved examples, providing a comprehensive guide for students looking to understand these two subjects thoroughly.
Theory Of Machines begins with an introduction to different types of motion within machines, such as successfully constrained motion and completely constrained motion. Then, the different components of any machine with respect to kinematics, such as links, joints, cams and kinematic pairs are discussed.
The book then explains velocity and acceleration diagrams in detail, from which the characteristics of motion of the machine can be derived completely. There is also a chapter dedicated to cams, where the reader will learn how to trace the motion of the cam in a geometrical and mathematical manner.
Friction is another pertinent concept that is discussed in length in Theory Of Machines, with a number of situations provided, such as friction in brakes, screw jacks, screw threads and in links. Readers will learn how to use the coefficient of friction for different materials to calculate the heat generated and the amount of wear due to friction.
This book is a standard textbook for all students of the mechanical engineering discipline, presenting all the topics under the syllabus for Kinematics and Dynamics of Machinery in a simple and understandable manner. Some of the important features of Theory Of Machines are a balance between the analytical and graphical approaches, computer programs presented in the C language to make them as user-friendly as possible and close to three hundred and fifty solved examples.
There are also completely new sections covering important topics such as Hartmann and Bobillier construction, Chebychev spacing, and the Euler-Savary equation.
In order to ensure that readers, whether they are students or researchers, get an adequate understanding of the subjects covered, Theory Of Machines also has 510 exercise questions and more than 160 objective type questions, providing a complete examination-level preparation.

S.S.Rattan was a great book, for studying mechanics, its book his student friendly ,and it is better than other book's such as Thom's bevel and other but this book as some draw backs when compared with R.S.Khurmi,s.s.Rattan was not well instructed when it compared with Khurmi, the book lags pictorial representation
the latest version was better,
S.S.rattan cost you 338 rs where as khurmi cost 645 rs
remember the book contains same theory
Although this book, as claimed by the author, that it has seen many editions, I am thoroughly disappointed to read. I base my comment afer studying the Chapter on Static Force analysis. Innumerable print mistakes, total absence of clarity to present the subject matter. It is shocking that a popular publisher like Tata's shouild have published this book risking their reputation. If the author wants I am glad to send a list of howlers!
It is a unique book. I have not found any other book which is as good as this book for the study of kinematics & dynamics of the machines.
* the concepts are easy to grasp.
* easy language
* covers entire syllabus for mechanics of machinery and dynamics of machinery.
* only one thing missing is this book is not in colour print.
The paper and print quality is good ,no doubt about it and with flipkart offer its a good deal.
BUT, ..You might be disappointed if you are looking for a good subject based or theory oriented text. Its a little hard to understand the theory from such a text.
So if you want to study the subject deeply don't buy this one .Instead go for texts like P V Singh or Khurmi
The book provides you good concepts with self-explanatory language. It is well proven for all the exams whether it is your semester exam or some competitive exam. Refine the topics you require to cover rather than reading each and everything in this book as it is a pack of almost all topics of Theory of Machines.
must read for all entrance exams or as a text book. It will clear all the doubts. Flipkart is giving very good discountRead More
