Three Cups of Tea (Paperback) Price: Rs.193

One day Greg Mortenson set out to climb K2 - the world's second highest mountain - in honour of his younger sister, but when another member of his group fell ill, they turned around and Greg became lost in the mountains of Pakistan. He wandered into a poor village, where the chief and his people took him in. Moved by their kindness, Greg promised to return and build a school for the children. This is the remarkable story of how, against all the odds, Greg built not only one but more than sixty schools in Pakistan and Afghanistan, and how he dedicated his life to establishing literacy and peace, and understanding.

A book that EVERY LITERATE PERSON MUST READ.

I was browsing through books at a bookstore when I stumbled onto this one, one look and read of the back cover and I just couldnt put it down. I bought it with a wish and a prayer that it better deliver on what it promised. It did and then some!!

Its the true story of how(and why)a lower middle class American took up the cudgels to build schools in remote Pakistan & (told in this book's sequel: Stones into Schools) Afghanistan. I won't get into the story aspect 'cos its there in the summary...

Its a bit slow in the beginning but soon picks up pace and never lets go. Narration is simp...

Its a bit slow in the beginning but soon picks up pace and never lets go. Narration is simple and eligently written. Pulls at your heartstrings many a times!!

Humanity as a whole has got a lot to learn from this book and the great man that Greg Mortenson is. If you are a non-fiction junkie, like autobiographies, and open to learn some pretty important life lessons, you cant afford to miss this... :)

One inspiring story that will reinstall your faith in the goodness and selflessness of humanity!

I recommend this book to every book lover and casual reader. This account of Dr. Mortensen is brilliant non-fiction presented in such a well written manner that you cant help but applaud at the hardships faced by him. It constantly poses the question - what really motivates people like Dr. Mortensen? It leaves you with immense respect for him.
I wish lots of success to his endeavor of spreading peace through the poverty stricken hinterland of Pak and Afghanistan - one school at a time!

Special thanks to the co-author David Relin for bringing this story to all of us!

Young Adult's Version of Three cups of Tead

This particular book is a young reader's version of the original Three cups of Tea, it's meant for kids above 9 years old. The minute I spotted the print and the size of the book I was sure something was amiss. There's a small print at the top of the cover that mentions it and once you start of with the acknowledgment section, you'll realize it's not what you want to read unless you are a kid.

Strangely you'll not find the Young reader's mentioned else where on the Flipkart book description.

Three Cups Of Tea - Review

The Young Readers version of the book, is really thought provoking. I feel that these kind of books, which are well written, interesting helps the young readers, to realise the value of giving, education. The author's nature to help, despite the problems really will help to learn positive lesson.
