Book: The Three Mistakes Of My Life
In late 2000, a young boy in Ahmedabad called Govind dreamt of owning a business. To accommodate his friends Ish and Omi’s passion, they open a cricket shop. However, nothing comes easy in a turbulent city. To realise their goals, they will have to face it all – religious politics, earthquakes, riots, unacceptable love and above all, their own mistakes. Will they make it? Can an individual’s dreams overcome the nightmares offered by real life? Can we succeed despite a few mistakes?
Book Reviews of The Three Mistakes Of My Life
*Shallow but an engaging Read
Review by Rahul
I got my copy of the latest book from India's favorite author at the moment. Sure as it is expected - "The 3 Mistakes of My Life" is a racy read - quite engaging, endearing and a fast read.

A good book is one which appeals to the reader's emotions and different levels - this book succeeds in doing that at the first level which is really the "quick entertainment" level of consciousness. However, where this book ends up disappointing is the long connect the characters fail to make with the reader - the book is pretty much the product of "use and throw", "have fun and forget" philosophy. But at the price of Rs 95/- a 3 hour fun is not bad!

Read it to pass time on a hut summer day - bring along a little beer and enjoy! Don't expect any literary genius, don't look for logical connects and the afternoon will be a memorable one, if not the book.
*Nice book
Review by Manish
Good one from the great stable of Chetan!
*a must read for everyone
Review by nitin
A great book from a writer who understands the thinking of Indian people. An interesting read which goes through every aspect of Indian society. A MUST read.
*All three books by chethan
Review by Meghana
In all three book one thing which I liked most emotions of every charter is captured nicely. Request you to pen some more such books......
*Not very entertaining
Review by Shwetha
This book doesn't seem to have the "impact" crated by Five Point Someone. Somehow the narration could have been better. Also the base of the storyline is not very great. But as usual the language is very simple and lucid and the best part is greatest of the emotions are captured in simplest words.
*Enchanting Description
Review by Avaneesh Bajoria
The prelude itself was so captivating that it created platform for the entire storyline. It is the first book that I read completely and wished it lasted for some more time. Very simple language to describe the toughtest of emotions with a tink of humour through the story. GREAT BOOK !.
*nt worth..pls read "5.someone"

Review by priyanka
the best thing about the book is govinds love story, true emotions cum out of it.............
*read it to complete the writings of Chetan - nothing much
Review by Ridd
Chetan Bhagat has come out with a book which has got romance, cricket, business, friendship, politics, et al.... There are so many things in a book that one really looses interest and the major loss is the essence of the story that the author wants to put across. The book is a laggard in terms of the other two books written by Chetan. Infact of all the books that he has got published, would suggest reading Five Point Someone.
*a must read for everyone
Review by suddhata arnab
A great book from CHETAN who understands the thinking of indian people.
*Oh my mistake
Review by Shagun
the 3 mistakes of my life :

1. Im a sucker for books

2. Sucker for sequels

3. I acutually read this book !!! Or I think I went into a deep coma after
which I cannot remember how the book actually ended.

Sometimes, I think a celebrated author has to write just to remain in the news.
Chetan you didnt have to - you had Salman Khan in a movie adaptation of your
book!!

Rating - 2/10 ( Sorry fellas I actually bought the book too )
*Spice and Hot
Review by Parimal
A pinch of cricket, an overflowing cup of mistakes, fried together in a religious pan and aptly garnished with politics. And you have a delicious recipe in your hands, “The Three Mistakes of My Life”. So well served by Chetan Bhagat.

A dark witty plot, excellent characters, simple reader friendly account of a non descript group, to hold the young and also those young at heart, to hang on for a few more precious moments, a few more pages, to suffice the agony of “What Next??” When after a couple of hours, you discover that you have already munched upon the whole book; and that too in one sitting, clear crisp and simple. A divine conglomeration, made me commit this mistake – of stumbling upon the TTMML and I regret not a bit of it. Rather I feel fortunate to have laid my hands on another of Chetan Bhagat’s august literary creations.

About the Novel,
Backto the book, In my youthful jest, I suppose Govind Patel(The lead protagonist of the story) somewhere in his subconscious mind, does not regret his second mistake(the details of the mistake cannot be revealed here, lest Chetan sues me for plagiarism !!). The other two mistakes were fate decided fateful mistakes. But in my opinion, the second mistake was a tacit decision and the man could have easily avoided it!! As of it, good, it was’nt avoided, but regretting it is really fruitless.

Politics, cricket, fundamentalist-ic attitude and Godhra Carnage have their fare share, especially when the story shifts gears from Govind Patel as character to Ali(the God gifted cricket huncho of this small town)

The trio of Ish, Govind and Omi capture readers imagination from the word go; for they have woven around themselves such real and close to real life characters, that you start believing in their existence. And not to forget Vidya, aptly and so beautifully described to be imagined in day dreams – right form her bright clothing, and her vivacious earrings, and her sex-escapades, and her flirtatious ways and her free wheely nature and n and n and …..

I know I can go on and on. But then, why waste reading all this crap stuff of mine when it would be much better to lay you hands on on this winter creation. And what else could you ask for, when you get to learn SMS lingo all throughout the book(at no extra cost). So wishing you a Happy Reading !!!

*Almost there ...
Review by Ritwik
You have got to hand it to this guy. He knows how to tell a story. He chooses themes that are contemporary, that are Indian-urban in content, and are youth-centric. Pick up one of his books, and you can be assured that it will be a pot-pourri of emotions and ethos, (black, white but mostly grey). It is therefore hardly a surprise that his plots are queuing up in the Bollywood production lines, vying with each other for silver screen space. Love, lust, morals, values, wit, sarcasm, cynicism, optimism, realism, surrealism - you name it, you have it.

Its probably not the appropriate place, but in my opinion, "One Night at the Call Center" is leagues ahead of the "Three Mistakes..". What also doesn't work for the "Three Mistakes.." is the deja-vu when you look at the characters that Chetan paints before us in the "Three Mistakes..". Ish is hopelessly reminiscent of Vroom, with cricket replacing "anything on wheels". Govind Patel does a Shyam, as the "grey" raconteur. Priyanka comes alive once again in Vidya. One night gets stretched to a few years, literally. In my opinion, what worked so well for "One Night.." makes "The three mistakes.." a tad predictable. Maybe that's a trend many writers follow (successfully) these days. Keep the characters, change everything around them. You only have to look as far as Dan Brown. Sophie Neveu becomes Vittoria Vetra, and Jacques Sauniere becomes Leonardo Vetra.

But make no mistake. Like all of Chetan Bhagat's other novels, "The Three Mistakes.." is a rivetting and compelling read. It does give a little less than what people who have read "One night..." (and perhaps Fivepoint Someone) would expect. But it is sure to be one heck of a ride, for people new to Bhagat.
*Can be read

Review by Sanjog
I'll just say - Excellent!
Really heart touching and you always feel you are the one around whom the entire story is flourishing.
Some places quite impractical - but we can't forget, finally it is a novel. So it can be easly ignored.
Overall score: 8 / 10
Worth reading!
All the best......!!!
*MY WORST MISTAKE OF LIFE
Review by Rohit Verma
What was this book man....same old funda..3 guys..one gal...idiot gets the gal....
same old narration style..absolutely nothin new....I suggest Chetan should write movie scripts instead..this book is not worth of being callled a novel.
My Take 3 no 2 out of 10. This novel is for those people who dont read novels and have read only chetan bhagats novel in their life so far.
