'Tourism in Ancient India' gives expression to tirthyatras, journey for trade and its various aspects. It also provides a panaroma of socio-cultural life and economic patten of Hindu society. Journeys in ancient India go back to hoary antiquity. The vedas, the Brahmanas, the Dharmasutras, the Puranas and other treatise describe journey, routes and ceremonies related to it.
About Author :
The author, Anand Singh, is a young scholar. He has done his Master's and Ph.D. in Ancient Indian History from the University of Lucknow. His earlier bok 'Pracheen Bhartiya Dharma evam Darshan (2003) has been well received by the students of Indian history. Some of his papers and book reviews have been published in internationally renowned journals. His special areas of interest are tourims studies, evolution of social institutions and gender studies.
