TP-LINK TD-8817 ADSL2+ Ethernet/USB Wired with Modem Router

Firstly, thanks to Flipkart.com for a great delivery. The packing is like always mind-blowing and I got the product within 3 days. Superb.

Now let me talk about the modem:

It works just fantastic!

I have a BSNL Brodband connection and this router I'm using it with a BSNL broadband connection, coupling it with TP link wi-fi router brought from Flipkart recently..

Firstly, I was very confused how to configure for my BSNL broadband but thanks to the wonderful customer support of TP-LINK , they mentioned and guided me each step by step on their toll free helpline how to configure and install.

Pros:
1. If and advanced user then configuration will take hardly 5-7 minutes else the customer support will help to configure within 7-8 minutes......!!
2. Great warranty of 3 years
3. Besides the modem and the power adapter, the box contained a hell lot of accessories :
a) Software/Resource and driver CD
b) RJ-45 Ethernet cable
c) RJ-11 Telephone cable
d) USB cable (to connect the modem to PC via USB)
e) Phone/DSL line splitter
4) Very good build quality
5) Nice Broadband speed without any disconnection . For me I am suing it continuously for 12-14 hours without being disconnected.

Cons:
1) The internet gets dissconnected within 15-20 minutes of usage when using both the USB as well as the LAN port. Meaning , I had one laptop connected via LAN and one Desktop PC via USB , and then my internet used to get disconnected it could can't be used simultaneously.

But I could the USB as well as LAN port simultaneously of my my earlier BSNL ZTE modem.

TP-Link has surprised me with such a fantastic cheap modem. What more can you expect when buying a basic modem. Add three years of manufacturer's warranty and you've got complete peace of mind once you set-up your connection and forget about it. And at this price! fantastic. we always

First off, kudos to Flipkart.com for a superb logistics team. I placed the order on Sunday evening and received it on Wednesday afternoon. The speed of delivery is commendable as I live in a small town. The packaging to avoid in-transit damage is top-notch.

About the modem: It works great! I'm using it with a BSNL broadband connection, coupling it with a Netgear WGR614 wi-fi router. The setup was quick and easy and I was enjoying my Internet connection back to it's full potential on all my devices in no time. I was using BSNL's WA3002-G1 wi-fi modem earlier, which is just not worth anything.

Apart from the modem and its power adapter, the sales package comes complete with:
- Phone/DSL line splitter
- RJ-11 Telephone cable
- USB cable (to connect the modem to your PC via USB)
- RJ-45 ethernet cable
- Resource CD
These add-ons really come in handy while setting up, or if you already have them you can always store them as backup. They also have a good build quality like the modem itself.

TP-Link have offered more than what you can expect when buying a basic piece of network hardware. Add three years of manufacturer's warranty and you've got complete peace of mind once you set-up your connection and forget about it. And at this price! Well done.

1. I would like to say the content of the package is better then D-Link DSL-2520U, Like In D-Link out of 2 RJ-11 Cable one is very short, But in TP-LINK ADSL2+ both are of equal size and saved me from buying a larger cable as in case of D-link.

2. More compact modem size then D-Link's as well as cheaper then Dlink's.

It took 3 mins to set up with the CD, very easy to configure.
Just select 'other' in Country drop down option and 'Other' in ISP drop down.
Put User ISP username and password.

Encaplusation: PPPoE LLC
and Done :D

Alternatively if you don't have CD ROM drive, then you can just got to 192.168.1.1 post connecting modem with LAN and set up the same from there as well.

Only -ve point I faced is the LED position which is on the TOP of the device and if you place your modem in overhead areas, you need to stand and see the modem connection status.

Overall the product is superb considering the price.

Like the small size. I wanted to change the modem BSNL gave me (no rent, 3 yrs old) which was getting reset now and then. Means used to go back tp factory settings for no reason. So I ordered this. Since I am not there in the house my wife was without internet during the reset period.
The setup was easy (am a gadget freak) so might be biased. I change the value for all the channels as per the old UT modem and it connected. The easy setup does not have setting for India-> BSNL. Needs to
The speed is same as for the old modem. Surprised to find the ADSL splitter in the package so cool.
The only setup issue was when I connected the Wireless router 3420 (also of TPLINK) and it didn't work. Has to go into modem settings and enable the physical port for DHCP for it to work.

Same speed etc as the old modem. Running for 24 hrs now with some power offs and still working.

Trying to figure out the Qos concepts so that I can allocate more speed for Youtube, SIP, VOIP and games. Hope to figure that our soon.

Also no-ip addition in the may2012 firmware is great as now I can host a website with no-ip where my dynamic ip is updates instantly by the modem (and also the router).
